The way teams have been crashing in on Zeke we need to make them respect the edges somehow. That quick pass to the edge Romo used to throw cured Philthy of crashing in on him,,,

Zeke had a big gain when they faked an end- around by a WR.

If I remember correctly, the WR (Switzer) would have had an even bigger gain on that play if they handed the ball to him or faked the handoff to Zeke and hit the WR in the flat. Keep an eye on that play. The WR had some real quickness and open field with only a man (or two?) to beat.

Collins or Green would be ok....:D
Watching the rest of the league on the Red zone shows most of the other teams would take Colling and Green in a heartbeat. I am not as down on them as most on the zone, certainly room to grow and none will be receiving any trophies.

I think Switzer gets his first jet sweep carry this week.

Last year, we didn't run it at all in either of the first two games. We ran it once for 3 yards in the third game.
Not so much the actual running Adam but the perception of the run from the Jet Sweep is the significance of the scheme. Defense have to wonder each play and that leaves some doubt in their mind about their assignment. We are only looking at making them less than 100 per cent on their commitment and then allow our Oline to manipulate them while they are giving partial effort in the event of a Jet Sweep.
I want to be clear you do need someone who scares the bejesus out of the defense to be really effective. Lucky Whitehead was too much of a knucklehead mentally for the team, but his speed is missed. Not sure who our real speed merchant is these days on offense, Butler is a long strider and Switzer and Beasley are more quick than fast. Dez is just normal NFL wr speed nothing special other than the body package. Brown is similar to Dez in the speed dept. Am I missing someone? No one with the quickness and speed that Lucky could display when his head was on correctly.

We use RPOs to deal with opposing defenses crashing the run. Dak has the option to keep the ball if the D bites hard on the play action. He can then either make the D pay through the air (for example, the TD pass to Witten against the Giants) or by taking off himself (as he did on his TD run against the Rams).

Switz has been used on Jet Sweep type "action" once or twice as a fake. He's so shifty and ideal for it. They key is running different types of action off of it as well (ie play action, handing to Zeke etc). For the majority of last season we got off to fast starts and often scored on the first drive to set the tone. Hopefully Linnehan and co will find their groove.

Am I the only one that has noticed the Jet Sweep is in the closet compared to last year, Lucky Whitehead to his credit made defenses at the beginning of last season stay honest...

Really have not used it much, not a matter of it not working we just are not using it often.

I've been preaching this since the offseason Linehan is always going to try and revert back to his base offense which is you know what's coming but you can't stop us. Well guess what if defenses read it that well they're going to stop it.
Last game we begin to open it up a little more like last season and I hope that pattern continues Linehan has to swallow his pride like he did last year and continue to develop what I like to call a Dak based offense.
I'm not advocating that he becomes a running back but every now and then defenses have to know the threat is there and we are going to use the entire field.
I think it was the first or second play of the game it was obvious the entire defense not only knew we were going to run, they knew exactly where we were going to go. that has to stop this isn't 2015 all over again Scott
Your dink-and-dunk use the short passing game in place of a running game is past tense

I felt the same way the defense was teeing off each play.

Well they can fool the defenses by going from a jet to a puddle jumper, and use Witten in the Puddle Jumper Sweep....just may work....:muttley:

When I say this I actually really do mean it. We should be running flea flickers as a normal play like Bill Parcells would do. Just to keep those Safties honest. May not be a big play every time but it will help keep the Safties out of the box for run plays

Unfortunately a puddle jumper may be generous about his speed and agility.

Remember, Switzer didn't play in preseason.

I don't think they are getting enough first downs to get that far into the play book.
