Jets/Cowboys will be low scoring ugly game

An ugly game is the Jets' plan. Run the ball, give us fewer opportunities, slow down our pass rush. Very, very few conventional dropbacks for Wilson. Mostly play action and roll-outs. The Giants' first drive is their blueprint. Keep it close, hope for a good ending.

Our game plan is to stuff the run early, get a lead, and then force Wilson to beat us, Micah, DLaw, Osa, et al. tee off on a young guy with a below-average Oline. If we can do that, it could get ugly. Their defense is very good, but if we force Wilson into 30+ passes, we will get plenty of opportunities to score easy points.

Pretty simple strategy all season, and just about the same as last year.

Offense - Don't turnover the ball. Take up the clock so your defense can rest. (That's our new strategy with Kellen gone. ;))

All - Get those turnovers, execute in Red Zone, get the lead as soon as possible. Play disciplined, especially defense against run.

Defense - As soon as that lead is established, See below.....

A game that we should win if we protect the football and force Wilson to beat you. Nothing complicated about this matchup. Won’t be any style points here.
what is "Low scoring?" I never understand why people try to predict anything in the NFL.

I personally THINK we are gonna score 24 or more points. I dont THINK the Jets will score more than 13, but I certainly dont think I am smart enough to make a prediction that is worth anything.

Why do I think we will core 24 or more? Because for the past 3 years with Dak our offense has consistently been in the top of scoring by teams in the league. We wont be playing in that downpour rain we had last week. Our offense should actually be better this year IMO with the addition of Cooks and Pollard not sharing touches with slow Zeke.

In any event, Ill be in the 200s at the 15 yard line enjoying every second of this weekend.

Yea yea, everyone’s got a plan until they get hit in the mouth. That “one drive” by the Giants might as well have been an anomaly.

should be a good test for the offense against a solid defense. The first half especially will show how dak can handle a pressing defense. He usually bulks . The cowboys should win this easily , especially after halftime. The jets offense will struggle protecting its QB and may turn over the ball, which means easy scoring opportunities. Really hoping dak can show he can make the imporant throws against solid defenses. The giants game was kind of a joke and many missed throws and drops . Let us see .

Not saying it's our weakness, but it's their best hope and will likely serve as their blueprint. I doubt there was anything else in the Giant's offensive game plan that they want to emulate.

They just beat a legitimate superbowl contender without Rodgers Monday night. I think the Cowboys win this one, but I agree with the OP that it's likely to be a low scoring ugly type of game, and with those all it takes is that one turnover or one big special teams play to change everything.

IF the Cowboys can get out to an early lead and force the Jets to throw it yeah it could turn into a blowout, but they have a top 5 defense and can run the ball. Those teams always have a punchers chance.
Buffalo isn't a contender and they did everything to hand NY the game. Wilson is not on the level with Jones and that man is probably contemplating retiring after the beating he just took. If the Jets couldn't keep it low scoring at home vs. Buffalo, I doubt they do vs Dallas.

The giants game was in a downpour. Ive heard it will be a comfortable 70 degrees with no wind this weekend.

It is almost certain that it will be for them. For us we will see. I can see it going both ways. I definitely prefer our offensive talent over theirs.

I’ve found that of the public sees it happening one way, it usually happens the other way. I’ll go 38-13 Boys.

Huh? Buffalo was top 2 betting odds in the AFC a week ago. Plus NYJ held them to 16 points, how is that not low scoring?

I still say 24-10 unless we stupidly turn the ball over. Stop the run and MAKE Wilson beat you against the upgraded secondary.

Punts rather than turnovers are mostly OK for our Offense in this particular game but I do hope to see more fireworks than against the Giants.

Dallas has to slow down the run to make the jets one dimensional. Sunday night the giants abandoned the run because they fell way behind real quick and that played in Dallas' favor.
