The New York Jets signed free-agent safety Abram Elam to the active roster on Wednesday.
Elam originally signed with the Dolphins in June 2005 before being waived the following month. He then signed with the Cowboys in February of 2006, and played in 15 games for Dallas last season, recording 13 tackles. Elam was cut loose by the Cowboys on September 2.
In addition, the team placed wide receiver Chansi Stuckey on the injured reserve list. Stuckey led New York with 11 receptions for 76 yards and one touchdown in the preseason.
The Jets also released safety Raymond Vetrone from the practice squad.
