My buddy here at work, a Skins fan, told me that Randy Thomas hurt his knee, they don't know yet how serious it is...

I saw the 4th quarter, and Gawd, are the Jets awful... I don't know who 44 is for them, but even Pop Warner DBs know you don't gamble on the pick when your team is in an all-out blitz... if you miss, it's an easy 6, and so it was...

Then there was the WR who dropped the easy TD catch with like 10 seconds to go... then there was Nugent missing a chip shot FG as time ran out, and apparently another FG inside 40 earlier...

I'll tell you though, in another 2 or 3 years I wouldn't be surprised if Colt Brennan turns out to be the Skins' Tony Romo... the kid handled the blitz with aplomb on that last drive... I also like what I see of Billy McMullen, he's been their best WR in preseason...
A friend of mine at work is a Skins fan. I told him Colt Brennan was a great pick for a WCO and would be the Skins best pick in this Draft. In 2 years I expect him to be their starter.

It always sucks when a player you pulled for throughout college is drafted by your greatest rival.

JC didn't look sharp last night at all, and the 1st team O looked ragged, unlike the crispness that they showed in the first 2 preseason games (2 TD's in those game, a mere FG last night)

What did last night tell me? The Commanders are still the inconsistant team I expect them to be, being right at the 8-8 mark this year (as I have predicted)

CB5 clearly is one of those "gamers" but I can't take much from him playing against dudes who will be bus drivers and grocery store clerks in 3 weeks. He had a mediocre outing last week (4 of 8) and didn't do a whole lot. This week he played like he did in HOF game. Basically, he too has some early consistency issues, but I am gonna look forward to seeing him get a chance against at least 2nd string guys next preseason and see what steps he has taken in his development

That game was awful last night. Farve looked decent, but the overall level of play was atrocious. The skins fans at the bar I was at thought it was the super bowl...luckily, I was there to remind them that it wasn't.

A good, balanced analysis... I like Brennan, I liked him before the draft... and I really liked how he stood in there against the blitz in that last drive...

With the Skins, the key will be the first month to six weeks of the season... the schedule makers didn't do them any favors, giving them all three of their NFC East road games in the first five games... if they can survive that, they might be OK... but if they struggle in that stretch, they might lose confidence in their rookie head coach, and the wheels could come off the wagon pretty quick...

So far I can't complain about CB5, but I am not, in the words of Bill Parcells, going to bring out anointing oils

I think Zorn's quote was dead on about him

http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=ap-Commanders-zorn&prov=ap&type=lgns

Jim Zorn said:
“I just don’t want to splash the water on him yet, you know what I mean?” Zorn said. “Here’s the thing: He’s had great vision, he’s made some heads-up plays, and we’ve had success. I really like all that. Maybe I want more, but I want better technique. I want him to use the kind of techniques that are going to take him further down the road. Remember we were talking differently last week after the Buffalo game: ‘Oh, Colt came down to Earth.’ Well, now he’s in outer space again.”

As for the first 5 games, that is a brutal start. 3 division games on the road with 2 home games against the Saints and Cardinals (neither of which are gimmes). Holding serve at home and keeping it close on the road and being at 2-3 after 5 games would have me very pleased to start the year. I have this feeling the Commanders will be a better team in December then in September
