John Clayton, of ESPN, reports the New York Jets could possibly trade WR Laveranues Coles in an effort to upgrade their wide-receiver position. Clayton expects the Jets to be a very busy team this weekend.

I'm vexed - trade your best WR to make your core better?

I suppose this is Coles for Branch, but I didn't realize Coles has fallen out of favor so much.

Interesting, you want to trade a WR for a better one, lol. I would guess you would have to give more than just Coles to get a better WR. For instance, Indy won't trade them Harrison for Coles just cause that is what the Jets want. They will have to add a pick to get this done.

I like Coles. If they wanted Crayton, Copper/Rector/Hurd for him, I'd love it. But it would never work out. 3 good WR never ever works.

Not that adding a WR is even on BP's radar, despite recent speculation, but Coles would undeniably be an upgrade at #3 over Crayton, and would instantly make us the deepest in the league at WR.

The Jets switching to the 3-4, means that we definitely have some trade bait.

The potential of Hurd or Rector is better than anything that Coles has done thus far.... doesnt seem like a smart move...

3 good WR's would never work? you know this how?

I'd take Coles in a NY minute.

Would you start him in place of TO or Glenn? There are normally only 2 WRs on the filed in a 2 TE set. Do youi think Coles would be happy on ly playing on third down and long?

Well, it is harder to take a good #3 WR if you are running a 2 TE offense, which will keep that #3 WR on the bench most of the time. It would make us more unpredictable though, we could go either formation with no drop in talent.

Yeah. It would be just like the 1999 St Louis Rams. They never worked out either, did they? :laugh2:

I doubt Coles wants to be the third pony here. If we didn't have Crayton and the younger guys I'd be on board. That said, I don't think he's going to get the touches that he'd want on our team.

I'm biased by a thick layer of man love, but I'm fine with Crayton. I want him to have this year to show he can be something.

I hope he gets traded, he's on my FF team, and Chad Pennington worries me

The Jets have reportedly brought Laveranues Coles' name up in trade talks.

The rumor comes from an odd source: PhiladelphiaEagles.com. Coles has complained a few times about new coach Eric Mangini but any deal involving their No. 1 wideout would be a shocker.
