JFF=Just For Fun
If any of you watched the game Saturday night, I'm sure you remember that Pepsi commercial, I think it's hilarious even though I HATE Pepsi.
Anyway, for those who missed it or weren't sober enough to remember it, here is the gist of it:
A Roman soldier and his assistant ride up to a large group of slaves working around a deserted area surrounded by cliffs. Some are in shackles, maybe all are, not sure. Anyway the soldier and his assistant ride up and announce to the hundreds of slaves, "We found this lunch bag, containg a sandwich and a Pepsi, and it's still cold. The name on the bag is Spartacus. Is ther anyone here named, Spartacus?
As the slave named Spartacus begins to rise to feet, another beside him rises quicker and announces, "I'm Spartacus!"
Then another and another and another...you get it. Then the two Roman soldiers look at each other like they are confused, then the assistant says "I'm Spartacus" . The lead soldier smiles, looks at him and declares, "I'm Spartacus!" and downs the ice cold Pepsi! Hillarious!
Anyway, in the movie from which this was taken from, Spartacus's army of slaves has been defeated by the Roman consul Crassus. The penalty awaiting every one of the former slaves is death by crucifixion. Crassus puts out the offer that all of them will be spared and returned to their lives as slaves if just one of them will identify the living body or the corpse of their leader, Spartacus. As Spartacus is about to stand to identify himself, the man next to him quickly shouts, "I'm Spartacus." Another stands up and cries out, "No, I'm Spartacus." And in a few short seconds every man is on his feet calling out, "I'm Spartacus!"
Anyway, now that it sems quite clear that Tony Romo is going to be our backup QB for this year, how many of you LOYAL Henson fans on this board wil rise up on behalf of your beloved Henson, at this crucial time when Henson is about to be crucified. I want to see you post "I AM HENSON!" in response to this thread, I think Henson would appreciate it!
Save your boy, Henson, now! Bill might spare him (yeah right).
PS: anybody want to call the ticket and let them know we're doing this for Henson. Dale Hansen would just love it AND it would be a good way to get cowboyszone.com some free publicity!
Let's see you do it...just for fun of course!
PSS: if the tables were turned, I would do it for Tony Romo.
Holy Cow! I'm not exactly sure how to react to this thread. On one hand, we clearly have a case of a veiled agenda. But it's really is one unique way of throwing that our there. Long-winded, and circuitous, but pretty original at the same time.
So here goes, even though we've been through this, I'd say it's deserving of a reply.
I know I am not alone in this, I still belive that Drew Henson has a good chance to become our QB of the future. Now this does not mean that I am unhappy about Romo's improvement. I really don't get why this is a problem for people to understand. I suppose that some who 'support' Romo, do so for other reasons than just hoping for the betterment of the team. I guess those people can't see that folks who like Henson are not as narrow-minded.
Maybe I'm missing something, but I have never, even months back, seem a post or thread that boast about Henson by putting down Romo. With avid Romo supporters it;s seems that the opposite is true.
Let me try to put in another way. There are posters here who's top goal seems to be "being correct" in making predictions, as if that somehow proves some vast football acumen. Those who have this goal then must invent an adversary so that they then have someone to thump thier chest to.
In this odd little battle over our back-up QBs it's seems as though much of the "Hensonite" crowd has been invented by the "Romo above all" group.
On the one side, I have read many posts proclaiming "see I told you so's, and wait you'll see" and the like from the Romo side, whereas the "enson side" has basically said
from the beginning "I'm excited about his tools and hope he develops." I don't see this as an even debate.
To sum up before I get all too long winded. I'm glad Romo has improved, any improvement to the team is to be welcomed. I like Romo, and even don't understand why I shouldn't. Does my belief that Henson has great tools and hopefully only needs more time to put it together preclude my being happy that we've got what looks like a good solid QB in Romo?
Some people insist that's what it has to be.
Hey, Henson can be a good one. If he's not, that's bad for all Cowboy fans. Some feel the need to be right about Henson's shortcomings is more important than success for the team. Fine.
Me? I'd rather Henson do well. If he can't, we move on. If in the future that's the case, it's totally irrelevant to me whether I WAS RIGHT, or I WAS WRONG. I'm interested in the team succeeding.
