The source is a post on a Falcon's board. I have no reason to believe it is inaccurate.

Q: What was not working for the defense at the end of the game?
Mora: We really played the run well through two and a half quarters. I think they had 38 yards rushing at half time. I want to say they wore us down, but I don't think that was the case. I think we got a little desperate. When can't get them stopped, you try some things defensively where you are stunting some guys and taking some chances and if they crease you they get bigger yards. I think that is what happened to a certain extent. They have two big runners and a big, powerful offensive line. I think when you combine those things, we just couldn't get them off the field. They had too many third and short to intermediate downs. It was frustrating. We were trying everything we could and we just couldn't quite get it right. It was tough. They are a very good football team. They are big. They are physical. They are powerful. Their defense is very athletic. They were one of the hottest teams in football coming in. I think they were 5-1 over their last six games. They just got us in the end. I was proud of the way our guys competed. You will continue to see that out of this team. It is the character of these guys.

Isn't this what BP is trying to indicate about getting improvements in our blitzing schemes? ..... It potentially leads to being killed..........

With a heavy inference on the fact we have a gaping hole in the middle of our secondary!

Ah, we had lost two.....

Depends on if you count the Atlanta game in the records for this interview. Substitute "are" for "were" and he's right.

Wore them down might have a little something to do with Barber bowling over guys with no fear. It's fun to watch.

Barber isn't the cause; he's the effect.

Dallas had a 5 minute TOP advantage at the end of the first half.
Dallas had a 7 minute TOP advantage at the end of the game.

JM Jr is trying to suggest his team wasn't worn down, but whether it's desperation or physical exhaustion, the result is the same. Teams can't defend the run in the 4th if Parcells gets to play the game "his" way.

...that series we came out passing the ball, then rushing until the big clinching TD run - that was an 80 yard drive that told the Falcons they weren't going to win that game. having balance is huge, and we have it.

I think we'll have good success running the ball, and I feel Julius will break off a couple big runs. and when the running game is working, that opens up the passing game. but the Eagles also have a good offense. this game will come down to which defense steps up, and don't be surprised to see a couple trick plays on our part... and by them too!!!!!

I'd call MB3 "cause and effect."

Don't forget his 7 rushes for 63 yards and a TD against the Giants in the first half a couple of weeks ago.

cause and effect is correct. the guy just knows how to finish runs. he gets at least 3 extra yards on sheer desire everytime. plus he has a nose for the endzone. excellent back.

That is what stands out to me. The guy just seems to love contact. He runs straight at the linebacker or safety instead of tip-toeing around and looking for the hole.

Sort of. Our blitz percentages are probably average for defenses around the NFL. One of the things that we don't do is stunt. A lot of coaches don't like to stunt that much because you're pretty much putting yourself in the hole as far as run defense goes. But we almost never stunt. Teams like SD, Pats, and Steelers...who all run a 3-4 scheme, do stunt and zone blitz. I'd be surprised if we have zone blitzed or stunted 20 times all season long.

We don't disguise our blitzes all that well to begin with (some instances in the Atlanta game the blitz disguise was a joke it was so bad) and we don't do things to really confuse the opposing offense. Scheme wise, I wish we were as creative, versatile and adaptable on defense as we are on offense.
