Wow, that looks pretty damn good. When I saw Andre I was holding my breath until about midway through the promo but he seemed to take the role quite seriously. I hope he doesn't overact, etc. like many artists/musicians (non pros). Looks promising.

A Hendrix bio without any Hendrix songs. "The film will not include any songs written by Hendrix, as the filmmakers' request to use them was denied by Experience Hendrix LLC (Hendrix's estate)."

So André Lauren Benjamin, 38 years old (when filmed), is playing a 24-25 year old Hendrix in 1966-67. lol.

Really? I guess that explains why no other big Hollywood biographies have been made until this point.

Basically.

Hendrix biopic: former girlfriend says domestic violence is 'made up'

Kathy Etchingham claims scenes of domestic violence are invented in All Is By My Side, the biopic written and directed by 12 Years a Slave's Oscar winner John Ridley

Thanks for this article, I didn't know anything about this topic or the flick until today. Seems like a better description for the film would be, "a film starring Andree 3000 as Ike Turner..."

I remember hearing several years ago about a documentary about RR being made...not sure whatever became of it.
I did find this though...............
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2846058/

Cool. Thanks.

Randy was like a little pup... Learning his tricks with quiet riot.

When he met ozzy, it was a perfect melodic mix.

It's funny. Quiet Riot was my favorite band growing up. The 80s non Randy version. Metal Health was like an intro-to-metal anthem. Lol

Later I found blizzard and diary. Two masterpieces.

Back in the day I used to have a Japanese import of Quiet Riots 2nd album with Randy. Besides a few short glimpses of what RR would soon offer the world the songs themselves were truly forgettable if not downright horrid. Speaking of QR w/o RR I met them at a local sound warehouse and can honestly say they were truly pricks....all except Rudy Sarzo who came across down to earth and friendly.
Oz was here{OKC} about 6 weeks or so before the plane accident and UFO was the opener. RR was very fluid and effortless in his playing almost like a violin player. I know it sounds jaded because so many moons have passed but he had just scratched the surface of his talent and he was tremendous especially for the time.

Yep. Had the import.
Yep. Horrible songs.

Quiet Riot - part of the story was... QR burst on the scene and sort intro'd that wave of rock/metal via MTV etc.... Then others followed. Dubrow was sour about that. Was a real witch about it. Thought it should just about him and his "great" voice (NOT!)

Anyway, that voice was great for two songs. That's it. Lol

Sarzo - always liked him. A real journeyman. Been with like 20 bands....ozzy. QR, white snake etc.

It's funny that you say violin. Listen to revelation mother earth SOLO on blizzard. You would swear it IS a violin.

I started playing because of a Randy in 1985. I was the kid in school that could play Randy.

I've never understood how families can deny clearance for their loved one's music. Their clearance and input could've totally changed the narrative of the movie. You don't like the story that is told, then you get involved so you can massage the story being told.

The money alone would've made me clear every song they wanted to license.

Wow talk about not really paying attention. Jimi looked anything but 24-25 and Andre doesn't look 38. It's about the look not the age.
