That team the Barry coached any of us could have done that. Basically they tuned out that loud talking coach anyways.
Jimmy quitWell Johnson certainly accomplished a lot more. Not even a debate.
Interesting how Jerry has no trouble canning Super Bowl winning coaches but can't bear to dump failures
I agree- it's like Jerry want to throw him a parade and give him the key to the city. Just put a foot too his a** and tell him to get the he** onJohnson- Maximized talent and arguably gave the boys its best run in franchise history
Garrett-Misused, mismanaged talent and wasted an entire decade with rosters that were arguably just as good the 90s
I know today is supposed to be an emotional day for the Joneses but it’s a microcosm of what’s wrong with the Dallas Cowboys
He did prove Jerry tight though---that at least on a one year basis, anyone could coach that team to a Super Bowl. That team the Barry coached any of us could have done that. Basically they tuned out that loud talking coach anyways.
I know what you are getting at and many Cowboys fans are ignorant of history on this one (ignorant not meant in any sort of pejorative or insulting fashion, but that they literally don't know the facts of how that deal went down)
Fact is--Bum Bright took less money from Jerry when selling the team than Bright could have gotten from other perspective buyers, because Jerry was the only guy who wanted to start fresh with a new coach.
Bright wanted Landry fired. Bright sold to Jerry for less because Jerry was the only guy who said he would do so.
it was one of the central deciding factors in the sale of the Cowboys. Landry's dismissal was as much or more Bum Bright's call, as it was Jerry's.
And I'm not "defending" Jerry as I"m sure you aren't. It's just that this narrative of how Coach Landry ended up being relieved of his duties is often greatly misunderstood. Jerry was a factor in that process but not the sole factor, by any means.
Well Johnson certainly accomplished a lot more. Not even a debate.

I do, however Landry still deserved respect. He more than earned it.
Jimmy quit
I'm a fan, but he really wasn't fired
I agree it should have been handled better. But have you considered it could have been handled much worse if Bright let Landry go?
This is a clear sign of how mixed up this organization is. Even if JJ already blew up the bridge with Jimmy, at a minimum he should have been in the Ring of Honor by now.Johnson- Maximized talent and arguably gave the boys its best run in franchise history
