Seems like they just don't induct coaches very often. There was only one in their hall until they decided to induct both Jimmy and Dennis Erickson at the same time.Wonder what took so long for him to be inducted into the Hurricanes ROH? Would have thought they added him a long time ago.
That explains it.Seems like they just don't induct coaches very often. There was only one in their hall until they decided to induct both Jimmy and Dennis Erickson at the same time.
That is a possibility. This is probably one of those things that will make Jerry double down and not put Jimmy in the RoH.
yeah seems too long to me as well, but better late than never. This took far too long. Like the Cowboys, Jimmy built a program that won 3 national titles - 1 with Johnson (87), and two with Erichson (89, 91) as coach.
Many football playing universities have rings of honor, fame, etc., like most NFL teams. The University of Miami, Florida started theirs in 1997. The tribute concept is a fitting one for individuals, who left a lasting inspirational legacy upon a school or franchise. The "U" has a Ring of Honor?
The Cowboys were the very first to adopt this method to honor their ex-players and coaches. Tex Schram invented the concept of a Ring of Honor. He was opposed to retiring jerseys. Instead, he wanted to use the numbers of retired greats to inspire a young potential star as well as Cowboys fans.
