Jerry doesn’t think coaching means a thing.
I've always had the sense that Jerry considers the HC an extension of himself. He's a vaguely Nixonian figure.

At least Jerry doesn't come down to the sideline to directly interfere during games anymore.

Is anyone here old enough to remember when President Nixon sent in a play for Washington?

Richard Nixon called a play for the Washington Commanders in a 1971 playoff game, which became known as "Nixon's Play":

On the eve of the game, Nixon called Commanders coach George Allen and suggested an end-around play against the San Francisco 49ers. The play was called in a critical second-quarter situation, with the ball on the 49er 8-yard-line. The play lost 13 yards, and the Commanders went on to lose 24-20.

I love Mike Tomlin

But we can have winning seasons and do jack squat in the playoffs all on our own

We’re kinda good at it

Former Dallas Cowboys legendary coach Jimmy Johnson with an interesting coaching idea for the #Cowboys and #Steelers on his #NFLPlayoffs pregame show:
"I've got no inside information, but things are stale in Pittsburgh. Things are stale in Dallas. Food for thought: how about coaching swap? Mike McCarthy is a Pittsburgh guy. Let him go to Pittsburgh, let Mike Tomlin go to Dallas. Both franchises would be excited."
Both teams have QB problems to start, coaches are fine.

Easy pass. Both are washed up. Tomlin is overrated. Media gives him luv and it's cult like. I think Jimmy finally lost his mind.

I like Tomlin, but no, the fit in Dallas won't work. It's so bad Jimmy is drawing up crazy coach trades on a napkin at FOX studios and bringing it to air. Jerry is stressing Cowboys fans out.

No coach will improve the Cowboys while Jerry is the GM/ interfering.

To bad we can't get Jimmy and Jerry to go on extended cruise with a bunch of hookers and a boatload of booze. Put the damned yacht to work.

Tomlin is the perfect coach for the Jones’s.

No matter how good or bad we are he can keep us in the middle.
I agree that Tomlin is the kind of coach we need. And the kind of coach JJ wI’ll never allow again.
Dallas players can not handle tough coaching
Agreed. But don’t worry. As long as JJ is breathing his players will never have any tough coaching.

I like and respect Tomlin. One of my favorite all time HCs, but I don’t think he would stand for Jerry holding court outside the locker room after games….and that’s just the beginning.

And things aren’t “stale” in Dallas, they just don’t have enough good players, and the good players they have aren’t quite good enough.

Tomlin is a great leader of men but he isn’t fixing that. The Steelers are actually kinda cheap, but nowhere near Dallas.
I think a change in coach mentality MIGHT Improve things, Tomlin doesn’t pick OCs very well though. At this point it wouldn’t hurt, McCarthy won’t win, the Packers playoff game shows that, he get get this team mentally ready….discipline, preparedness, desire etc.

What would your thoughts be on a swap from MM to Mike Tomlin if it were to manifest? I think I'd probably be for it. New scenery for Tomlin. MM might go the Bears if he doesn't get resigned by Dallas. Maybe Pittsburgh fires Tomlin after losing the last 5 playoff games. He's a better coach than Clappy and Fat Mike I think. Just wondering if you guys like that idea.

Jerry might go for it because Mike T is seniored and has put together some good Pittsburgh teams. Don't think he's had a great QB after Big Ben.

Fair, but moot as can be. He isn’t coming here…nor taking the pay cut. I don’t even know what he makes but Jerry want me to pay less I’m sure.

Jerry doesn’t think coaching means a thing. Just collect great players through the draft. Wont work. Can’t work. Not changing.
March NFL team meeting in a drunken stupor he tells the media at a bar that 500 coaches could lead this team to a SB. With that move 31 years ago he flushed the organization down the toilet,
F******* moron, he has ruined a generation, I have zero hope for this team. They will never win. I hardly watched any games this year. From keeping Mike to signing Dak none of it makes any sense. All are lagging indicator type moves.

There isnt a coach on the planet that can overcome the Jones culture. As long as losing is an option, and Jerry has proven over and over that it is, the team will continue stuck in mediocrity.
