Watching ESPN and this was the quote from Jimmy and Irvin about the blue print of the Super Bowl game where they won #1 of 3 under Jimmy. I hope so badly that Garrett can build a tough team like that. Another thing they showed Jimmy talking at the University of Miami saying fatigue makes cowards.

Garrett is no Jimmy Johnson.

I love that my Ohio State Buckeyes have Urban Meyer, that guy reminds me of Jimmy. Garrett? Not so much.

Why were they showing this?

NFLN show called "A FOOTBALL LIFE" they aired this afternoon:

"A Football Life" - Jimmy Johnson - A Football Life examines Jimmy Johnson, the coach who drove his teams to achieve immense success on the field, and the man who now spends his time with family, fishing in the Florida Keys and on television as a football analyst.

The quote was from a football life on NFL Network. I did think how ironic it is that we have had more talent and falling to teams like the Giants lately. It reminds you how tough minded the coach some of those players were. We need to develop that toughness again.

This is argument is so tired. We have not had more talent. I don't know why everyone thinks that.

Yup. Like Jimmy he'll win a lot then be gone and the program will have turned out a litany of knuckleheads.

If Jimmy was so great then how come he didn't win with the Dolphins? Didn't he get beat 52-7 to finish off his coaching career?

Maybe because a coach can only go so far as his football talent will allow.

Jimmy partially lucked out with the Walker trade. Then he made the mistake of drafting Walsh which cost him the #1 overall pick but he partially redeemed that mistake by trading Walsh for a 1st, 2nd and a 3rd later but we could have easily gotten nothing for that noodle-armed QB. Jimmy also partially lucked out on the Bengals drafting the LB he wanted James Francis which resulted in us drafting Emmitt Smith.

There was a lot of luck in building the 90s Cowboys and we'll probably never see a team as good as those Cowboys and 49ers teams again with free agency and the salary cap.
