Having removed him a month ago....I am reconsidering. If Dallas didn't have Dez to worry about...I think Dallas would consider Smith. However, since Dallas does have its hands full with Dez..add Smith might just be too much. Smith might be better than Peterson or Prince. Teams basically avoided his side of the field last year and he is being compared to some pretty good company Nnamdi Asomugha, Deion Sanders and Darrelle Revis. Character concerns are failed drug test in 2007 and two arrest for possession of alcohol while at college. He thinks he has better ball skills than Asomugha. Will be interesting to see where he lands.

He's not better than Peterson. I think Dallas took him off their Draft board awhile back. I could be wrong on that though, so don't quote me on it. I really have never thought he was a likely prospect for us to begin with.

If he's had drug and alcohol issues, it wouldn't surprise me if he's not on the Cowboys board. Jerry's mentioned in the past that drug issues are one thing they don't give a lot of leeway on when evaluating a prospect's character.

Concerns aside I just dont see him falling to 40 and hes nowhere near the 9th pick. He falls in the 25-35 range imo.

The only thing worse than a diva WR is a diva CB.

I doubt he'll be on our draft board.

He's one of those guys I could see having the drastic fall that weekend, maybe all the way to Saturday if all the rumors are true. Also wouldnt be surprised if he's the one who failed the drug test at the combine.

Aqib Talib just confirmed my concern with drafting players with questionable character. not worth the headache. if you can't take your professional career seriously, i can't waste a draft pick on you. Especially an early pick.

I think Jerry and co should continue drafting high character guys so I'd stay away.

That has to be one of the most pathetic highlight reels I have seen.

Makes a tackle. Picks up a ball off the ground. Wow!

Totally like Revis and Deion for sure!

I think the question should be, if he takes a monumental fall, how soon (if at all) would you roll the dice on him? I wouldn't be able to pull the trigger at 40 but after that his talent might be too much to ignore if he didn't fail a drug test at the combine.

I wouldnt pull the trigger at all. We did that with guys like Derek Ross and Kareem Larrimore, really gifted talents but 10 cent heads with a history of trouble.

I'd prefer to take my chances on other players without the issues.

Exactly, i wouldnt waste a pick on a knucklehead just because its a lower pick. I think i'd be even more inclined to take a high character guy with less talent, with hopes that we could coach him up.
Character is one attribute that is determined mentally and it doesn't matter where you come from, what you've dealt with, or how gifted you are genetically. You can be a high character guy from the slums of new orleans or a low character guy from Southlake, TX.
There's no excuse for not taking your craft seriously.

No thanks, he has the talent but I heard he interviewed badly. Some team will take a shot on him but I don't want him on this team.

He will be tempting at 40, especially if Williams and Harris are gone.

I would rather have Harris, Williams, and Ras-I Dowling before Smith.

Jimmy Smith is REALLY good, imo.

If by some miracle he was at 40, then, yes, I would consider it becasue the risk-reward is lower than where he will probably be drafted (14-22 range)

Garrett would not put up with his crap, so I would drop him down my board by not all the way off.

Probably a good point--especially regarding Harris. The other two guys would be great in the 3rd.

awesome talent on field, tool off of it. Honestly, imo, he's the #2 rated cb in this draft.
Keep an eye on the Ravens or the Jets to take him.

I don't think so. Aaron Williams and Ras-I are both most likely 2nd round picks.

I don't think he'd do well in Dallas. Too much to do in the city and I don't feel the locker room is strong enough to keep him in line.

whats ironic is that it seems cowboy fans have learned their lessons with questionable characters (i wonder if Dez is having an impact here with fans) but most mocks I see have the Eagles taking him in late first round and most eagles fans are completely ok with his questionable. Maybe apart of that is D. Jackson was supposed to be head case and turned out to be a special player...so maybe their fan base is more accepting.
