Allegedly killed his girlfriend in the eighties, rumours abound for years, apparently they just caught up with him.

Former professional wrestling superstar Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka has been arrested and charged with third-degree murder and involuntary manslaughter in the 1983 death of his girlfriend.

The Lehigh County (Pa.) district attorney's office reopened the long-dormant case last year after The Morning Call investigated the death of Nancy Argentino in a Whitehall Township motel. The newspaper's report included a never-before-published autopsy labeling the death a homicide.

Snuka, 72, was arrested at his home in New Jersey Tuesday morning, according to The Morning Call. Bail has been set at $100,000.

Argentino died on May 10, 1983. Snuka had been taping a WWF (now WWE) show at the Allentown (Pa.) Fairgrounds and returned to their shared hotel room to find her gasping for air and "oozing yellow fluid from her mouth and nose," according to local reports. An autopsy indicated the 23-year-old suffered more than two dozen cuts and bruises to her head, ear, chin, arms, hands, back, buttocks, legs and feet, and indicated that the injuries were indicative of force from a stationary object.

Wow. I remember something about that, at the time. Guess it's never too late.

I wondered about the statute of limitations and found this.......
"Crimes considered heinous by society have no statute of limitations. Although there is usually no statute of limitations for murder (particularly first-degree murder), judges have been known to dismiss murder charges in cold cases if they feel the delay violates the defendant's right to a speedy trial".

Very sorry to hear.

One of the most electrifying wrestlers of the late 70's into the mid 80's. Huge star in Japan also.

I almost got arrested for murder once. Then I told the officers....

Jesus. This is my area.

Such a shame to see.

Small world . . . Whitehall is 20 mins west of me.

I still remember watching him fly off the top of the steel cage in MSG. Back then you could only watch those highlights on the news.

I remember when this happened because the next day he was supposed to wrestle up in NY and didn't make the show. Believe it or not, the rumor was that he accidentally was shot in the foot. Then I read in the paper the next day that his girlfriend had died in a mysterious accident.

A friend of mine who is a writer and does a lot of investigative pieces has been pushing for Snuka to be charged for years. The stories he has from talking to cops about Vince McMahon coming down and essentially bailing Snuka out or threatening to sue everybody doesn't paint McMahon is a positive light.

Snuka was my first favorite pro wrestler. But having read the reports almost 20 years ago from my friend, I think he clearly murdered her and him being arrested is long overdue.

I can't imagine McMahon ever being painted in a positive light! LOL!

Honestly everything I've read about him seems to portray him in a very negative way. Other than making money (which isn't necessarily negative or positive) I'm not sure what's good about the guy.
