OK...let's get this thread out of the way for today............

IMO...we are in a GREAT situation to have three talented RB's on the roster. Each has a different running style and anyone could potentially start at any given time and do well.

I think Barber having two very solid games only improves our RB situtation...JJ will need to come back 100% and show why we were all gushing over him last year. Not only do we NOW (Finally) have a nice one...two punch...we have number three punch as well with the injection of TT's speed mixed in at points in the game, not to mention his ability on returns...waiting for this kid to break one!

JJ...an elusive dynamic runner, and now Barber a pretty quick hard downhill runner that has some nice moves and finishes his runs. NICE! They are picking up blocks, catching the ball out of the backfield....I'm stoked having three guys that can flat out play in the backfield.

Personally, I think JJ will be the starter (and now with something to prove), and Barber will get significant playing time...and in some situations possibly get even more carries depending on who's hot or who we are playing.

What a GREAT problem we have.................

I like Barber. But anyone who wants him to start over JJ needs their head examined. JJ would have gone for 200 yesterday.

I agree I could not ask for a better situation. In years past if our starting RB suffered an injury we were in deep trouble as it stands right now we have legit options that can come in and get the job done. I know some in the media will make this out as a controversy I see it great depth that will keep this team in contention as we head to the later part of the season.

Yep, well i am very glad that Barber was able to go out and prove himself in two consecutive starting roles. I feel much better now knowing that JJ doesnt have to get 30 carries a game, and that he will imo be able to play a lot more if he wasnt in on so many plays. Still not ready to proclaim barber starter over JJ, but I have been a fan of Barber since the year before he was drafted and continue to be high on him. he showed some power running and the ability to make scores happen, not just to let them come to him.

Taking it a step further look at what the Cheifs, Falcons, Denver, and Steelers can do with a top notch running tandem. I'm liking it! It keeps competition going strong and allows them to play 20+ games with the ability to maintain a strong running game...

Denver doesn't have a top notch running tandem -- they have a borderline-illegal blocking scheme that any back can succeed behind.

yes, two and possibly three good running backs will be huge for us in the december and possible playoff games.

BP has to be loving this.... As much as he likes to run the ball, now he has two or more guys that can carry the load. I say, keep in the hands of the hot man, if JJ is healthy for the Eagles, start him, but if he isn't getting it done get him out of there. Put Barber or TT in to see what happens. The mixture of power, speed, and elusiveness is good. There is no reason that JJ and MBIII can't get 15-20 carries each in a game...

I'd like that to be more like JJ gets 20-25 and Barber gets 10-15. Barber has played well, but JJ is THE MAN.

Who ever has the hot hand at the time needs to be running the ball. If I see Jones having a great day then I keep pumping him the ball but in defense of Barber the same should hold true for him.

Good Thougts Portland Fanatic. Easy to push JJ aside if you simply watched Sport Center last night and are clueless as to what JJ means to this team, Not to mention Arizona's poor rush defense. It's a wonderful problem to have as we play week to week as opposing teams will have more and more Cowboys to try and "scheme" against. It makes the opposing teams game plan complicted and confusing if your worrying about how to score on a top rated defense and then how to stop Bledsoe and Glenn and K-Shawn, and now we seem to have a real trio of running backs. I'm really seeing a balanced team here. Trying not to get too excited for the playoffs. We have some tough division tests coming up, but the 5-3 start going into the bye week feels OK.

Jones is the ace in the hole if you ask me. We've played well, but we need him to come out and really do some damage late in the season. He needs to break some big runs for us. We've had a decent running game, but think about this team if we can pound the ball 35-40 times and pick up around 150-180 ypg. If this team can start producing a real consistant running game, it's going to be real good.

But he can help that fact that he goes down way to easy this year, and

doesn't finish his runs like last year. He is playing not to get hurt and got hurt.

Parcells told him to live to play another down, but he took it too far ...JMO

That will change now....I fully expect him to explode the second half....

You know, I never could understand this sentiment. If what the Broncos are doing is so illegal - yet the league allows it - why aren't others doing it?

The Broncos are just taking advantage of the rules. Can't punish them for that anymore than you can punish the Cowboys because refs allowed Michael Irvin to push off. It wasn't offensive pass interference if there weren't any rules to keep it in check.

A 40-50 yd run is what really scares D coordinators and makes them key on the rush.
If all you can do is 10-20 shots they will accept that if you have serious speed at WR that can take it to the house. So they will key on the pass. If JJ can come back and do a couple of BIG runs, then the D will shift to the run and Bledsoe can bomb to Glenn and Price. One real keyis getting our ypc over 4.0; our O line stank so bad run blocking that we were well under that. There has not been a real O in the league that features home runs both pass and run CONSISTENTLY for years. Indy has edge but he is a pounder. Rams can hurt you deep but they do not get many long rushes. KC is the same; no one features 60 yd bombs and 50 yd runs. WE could do that - IF the O line keeps blocking like it has the last 3 games AND maintains good pass protection.

I think BP got into JJ's head with all that BS about negative runs and to go where the play is designed; and I blame BP for not seeing what it was doing to JJ's running style.
Of course the O line was stinking it up early and that might have been the reason BP was harping on it. Now with a real threat to his job, I hope JJ reverts back to last year and runs for daylight- no matter where the hole is!!!
