NY Post advocating the Giants trade the # 3 pick to Minnesota for injured JJ McCarthy the former # 1 out of Michigan . Darnold & Daniel Jones don’t seem long term answers why would they be in a hurry to trade a young QB they obviously like.

That doesn't make sense. The Giants didn't want McCarthy at #6, why would they give up a #3 for him?

The problem for the Vikings is they don't know how good McCarthy is. They just went 14-3 with Darnold. I think the Vikings would make that trade, pay Darnold, and send the Giants their injured QB for the 3rd overall pick. I just don't think the Giants will do it.

The other choice is to keep McCarthy as backup and give Darnold a market level contract they can get out of in 2 years. What they don't want to do is get rid of Darnold and find out McCarthy is a bust. All while Darnold is playing well someplace else.

Its just the Post putting offseason fluff out. McCarthy wasn't worth the #6 pick to NY last year. Why would he be worth the #3 pick to them now coming off a season ending injury?

I think that type of deal is best for them. You dont let Darnold go now after the season he has had. Plus if they do trade McCarthy, they have to rebuild his value. Does he even have any preseason tape?

They gave up on Jones they have no QB . Kiper was pushing this move in the Post , gives NY someone under center and Minnesota an extra one . I guess it would depend on this how much do they like McCarthy over any QB in the draft at the 3rd slot . The injury does factor in

The Giants new Jones wasnt the awnser last year and didnt pull the trigger on him at #6. They definitely aren't going to want him now with the same staff for the #3. Plus McCarthy is damaged goods. Their 2nd maybe, but I dont see Minnesota doing that

I'm pretty sure they have at least one game of preseason tape. Before the injury, I remember chatter about liking what they saw. But yeah, they're going to have to build up his value unless some team offers them something they can't refuse. I would just hang on to him otherwise.

They had extended Jones going into last season rather than Barkley . They were expecting Jones to progress. With a probable rookie QB next season Daboll and the Gm better hope for a Bo Nix type record . Mara won’t be in the mood for 5-12 with “ rookie QB “ as excuse .

They liked what they saw . They have a # 1 invested in him. The QB situation in NY is where it’s up in the air now . I assume the # 3 pick has to be QB

They extended Jones going into 2023 with outs very early in the contract. They could have moved on after 2023 but still passed on a QB. I seriously doubt they have any interest in McCarthy

I wouldn't be shocked if they punt on it with the intention of getting a better QB in 2026 in a stronger class. Daboll is basically a lame duck. They might not want a new guy coming with a rookie QB fron a weak class where some experts have 2nd round grades in the top 2

I don’t know if Mara brought the Buffalo Bills twins back in 2025 with the idea of “ punting and lame duck “ . My bet is whoever they think is best QB on the board at 3 take him . DaBoll was an OC at Buffalo and admittedly he had Josh Allen . I see no evidence of an offense being built with the Giants . Terrible QB play whoever they use .

No. The same GM that refused to take McCarthy at 6 will not trade a 3rd overall for him. Not unless he admits to being stupid. They could trade up for Sanders or Ward. Then we have rumors that Sanders will not accept being picked by Tenn. or Cleveland, and force a trade to the NYG.

That would be awesome for the Giants to waste the #3 overall pick in this draft for last years #10 pick. This is a win-win ......... for MN and Dallas.

Last draft they passed on McCarthy because they put the poker chips on Daniel Jones and an extension instead of also Re signing Barkley as well . Nothing says your stupid this year when you have zero in the QB room and you might get a McCarthy

What if McCarthy is the answer at Qb for them who cares where he was drafted last year . You have no Qb
