They need a QB
If Minnesota called and offered McCarthy for the #3 overall pick, Id be anything New York would hang the phone up

Honestly the whole reason I went into this thread was because the thread made it seem like this had happened or was close to happening. Thats not the case and is misleading. Its Kiper saying it would be a good idea and the Post getting unnamed "GM's" to comment on if it would be a good.

No one said it happened . It was suggested . You don’t like the trade from the Giants standpoint I got it .

What if McCarthy is the answer at Qb for them who cares where he was drafted last year . You have no Qb
Well , they passed on him last year. Now, he's the answer to their prayers? Many thought MN took JJ too high. But, my point is that they need to get more particular with JJ missing a year of football.

Yes they ( Minn) were high on him enough to spend a 1 on him then a preseason injury wiped out a year . Any team would have to find out how has he progressed . Watson in Cleveland Re injured rehabbing . The two teams in front the Giants can’t avoid being concerned at there QB situations as well as the Giants.

How do Daboll and the GM win enough to convince Mara they are on the the right track with Drew Lock ? A number of teams QB starved

I think it's a pretty safe bet NY is taking a QB. They will probably trade up with TN to secure their choice before someone else does. Cam Ward looks a lot better than JJ coming out of college and he's got that extra year on his contract which is very valuable when you are talking about developing a QB.

I do think someone is going to knock on MN's door for JJ. But, MN has the 10th overall pick invested in him and it's going to take some value to pry him out of MN, particularly with this thin QB class. I can see a team like SF trading their first round pick for him maybe they add a 3rd. I don't see them changing their formula to pay Purdy. He's a system QB and I think SF could plug in a lot of guys to that system and win. On the other hand, if Sam Darnold flames out in the playoffs, MN may decide to let someone else pay him and roll with JJ.

This is the kind of year where desperate teams may inflate Shadeur Sanders and he’s drafted higher . Not a great year for QB’s. As to Minnesota they hold all the cards with McCarthy.

McCarthy is 21 years old and under team control for 4 years. I don’t think people realize that before the knee injury McCarthy was going to be named the starter. Quarterbacks are the most valuable asset in the NFL. Most importantly McCarthy would have been the number 1 pick if he came out this season.

Yes and the thing about Minnesota they can hold on to him they are going to want a 1 in a trade . Darnold had a horrible season ender let’s see what he does in playoff football

The dumbest thing the Vikings could do is give Darnold a long term 50 million dollar a season contract. Franchise and trade him is what I would do. Some dumb team might give youv two second round picks for him.

The way this is going with JJ McCarthy rehabbing Minnesota sits tight with a thought to him starting in Minnesota 2025 . Darnold reverting to Jets days. McCarthy going to turn into a nice 1st round pick for the Vikings to bank .
