Sounds simple but ......does this mean we just need the beast in the middle?

He is right; that is why its called a pocket. As long as your tackles can push the outside rushers just a little, the QB can step up in the pocket and throw if he is quick about it.

BUT if you got the edge rushers and guys who can push up the middle, the QB has no where to go. Goodnight.

JJ basically said the Eagles have everything a defense could want. It's hard to keep pace with an organization that hits so many home runs on draft day and in free agency. They sign some guy named Zach Baun and the guy has a first team all-pro season. How does the that organization find these guys on other NFL teams and know they fit and see upside others don't ?

Philly drafted two Georgia DTs, Jordan Davis and Jalen Carter, in the 1st rounds in the past two drafts. You could argue that they didn’t need to spend so much on DT because they already had Javon Hargrave and Fletcher Cox. But the Georgia boys were the best DTs and maybe the best defensive players in their respective drafts. It’s similar to when Dallas built the elite OL. It wasn’t cheap, since it costs three 1st round picks, but they became a dominant unit. Now Philly has two elite young DTs on rookie contracts. They’ll be dominant for years to come.

For the next couple of years, the birds are going to be very tough

the only thing that could derail them is a rash of injuries
