Houston Texans defensive end J.J. Watt will miss the rest of the 2017 season after he suffered a leg fracture during Sunday's game, coach Bill O'Brien said Monday.

Back to back seasons now.

Damn shame, as he was having a potential HOF career.


The Texans also lost outside linebacker Whitney Mercilus for the season, according to O'Brien. Mercilus tore a pectoral muscle on the same drive as Watt's injury.

Stinks that Smith has this lingering back issue. Hoping it can get resolved in the offseason.

The tibial plateau fracture that he has requires a few weeks longer than some others, since it's such a significant site of weight-bearing impact within the knee. Complications can include osteochondritis, which is never good, so he won't really be ready until January.

This is largely true. I think it has hurt guys like Sean Lee, too.

Steroids create unbelievable athletes, but they make them so delicate at the same time. It's like a finely-tuned race car. They can fly, but they break easily when they do.
