JJ Wilcox or Barry Church, who do you resign?

Wilcox preferably. He has the upside and a physical nature kind of missing without.

Easily Wilcox. The one thing Barry used to be very good at....sure tackling...he no longer excels at. So with Wilcox being younger...you gotta go with Wilcox. And I think Wilcox arrow is still pointing up. Plus there is very little...if any...physicality on this defense....and Wilcox at least represents that.

I'm sure we can resign both but I would go with the younger guy, in this case Wilcox if I had to choose between the two.

I bet both get re-signed. Neither will have huge contract demands. The CBs is where someone is not going to get re-signed.

They love Church, I bet they consider him to be a cornerstone of the defense (team captain). They'll probably lock him up long-term

If you had to choose one? Wilcox is 25, Church is 28.

Initially, I would have let both go but Wilcox's light has come on this 2nd half of the season.

Wilcox may be a diamond in the rough who is finally coming into his own and may be cheap to resign. Barry Church is a solid, if unspectacular, player but we are overpaying him currently (or at least have been for much of his contract). We are going to start to lose players. I would like to keep all serviceable players possible but not over pay to keep them.

I question retaining Wilcox over Church based on a half-season. I'm glad the light has come on, and if he plays lights out in the next three to four games, I'd probably go with Wilcox, but right now, I'll take the steady Church over a flash.

We are 15 games in at this point. The issue with him was the speed of the game which manifested in bad angles and overruns.

Those are gone now that Greg Jackson has taught him how it is done. The issue to my eyes hasn't been with Wilcox as much as with prior coaching. I also do not think he is going to unlearn how to gauge the speed of the game.

I agree with other's that we should reap the benefits of what is ahead as opposed to paying past performance.

All that being said, Church is playing better too. I would like to see both back.

JJ every defense needs an enforcer I don't remember who it was but one of their receivers just flat dropped the ball because he could see somebody coming out of the corner of his eye

Church, Leary and TWill can get us some Comp Draft picks.......plus Mo or Carr

We need to re-sign Mo and Carr, B. Otherwise we have too many holes to fill in FA (on D). Let Brown develop for another year and be loaded at CB (with Scandrick, hopefully healthy).

Both are average at best , IMO. But I'd go Wilcox because Church has to be at the bottom of the league at his position as far as pass covering ability goes. He's good in run support, but those guys are a easier to find in the draft.......

The media loves Church because he talks to them and otherwise goes out of his way to make himself available. He undoubtedly has a career lined up after his playing days are over.

I would hope that the Cowboys brass makes decision with what helps the team win most over time foremost in their mind.

He's definitely one of the "faces" of the team b/c of his media savviness. I hope that doesn't go into the decision.
