JJ Wilcox single handedly gave us a chance to win that game at the end there

So he hit someone full speed and didn't wrap him up. It was a lucky hit.

Hey, when he hits you, you no longer move forwards. I am just glad someone on the D made a play. That's more than one can say for many of the other guys on D.

I've been waiting for someone to bring up Wilcox's hit. Lost in that game was his hit to save that first down and get them to punt. I'm not his biggest fan but I can admit when s guy makes a play and that was one. When everyone else sat there and watched them run on us he was the only one willing to hit.

It's ok..I expected responses like this. He's got talent.

I honestly would like to see our coaches try Church or Wilcox at LB. Make the Thomas David/Mark Barron move. Wilcox especially I think could be good making the switch.

Not sure about that. He just doesn't take good angles. In tight space he's ok but anything require slicing between people to get to ball carrier I don't trust him to take good angles.

A tackle 13 yds down the field on 3rd and 15 warrants a thread around here......how the mighty have fallen

It probably only warrants a thread because the forum was nearly unanimous in wanting him gone. I couldn't figure out how he stayed on the roster, and I know I wasn't alone. When he stuck that guy a yard shy of the first down I was pretty glad we didn't cut him.

It's interesting you mention this. I forgot where I heard it but it was mentioned that Barron was moved to linebacker when he joined the Rams because playing closer to the LOS would result in less misplays. They like his athleticism and size but he was very prone to making bad plays when he was playing safety. It sounds very similar to Wilcox. I didn't watch him yesterday so I dunno if he's more productive since the switch.

He made the play when it mattered, lucky or not. Kudos to him. Whatever is holding him back from really learning the position is something I hope he corrects. I don't know if it's instincts, intelligence, lack of studying tape and plays, or what, but he definitely has no fear of hitting other guys. I wanted him gone if we had an upgrade at the position, and I still do but if he finally gets it, I'm all for keeping him.

ok sure, but OTOH, the Sterling Shepard TD was on him......

I can't stand Wilcox, but nope. Sheppard made a hell of a catch against almost perfect coverage. Wilcox was trying to make a play. I'll take that over him sitting with his thumb in his *** 5 yards away from the play.

yes it was a helluva catch, but J.J could of gotten there sooner and been in a better position......

Sad that it takes a safety 20 yards off the ball have to come save the day because our ignorant defensive coordinator is playing a nickel package the entire last drive when the Giants showed their hand that all they wanted to do was run the ball.

Not sure what this topic is getting at besides that. Wilcox still has little talent.

Every now and then this style he plays with pays off. More times than not, he looks silly.

Bro, it was a jump ball fade in the end zone. He actually has a ton of reads and responsibilities in that situation. I'm shocked he showed up when he did. Again, Brown had (literally) perfect coverage on the play. Sheppard just out played him. We've seen Dez do it a thousand times to other CBs. Our guy got beat doing his job as well as you could ever ask. Wilcox shouldn't even be a consideration on that play. Sometimes great players make great plays. Sheppard did that.

In passing situations, they bring safeties up into the box to essentially play LB. So they essetially do, they just don't want them out there as a full-time linebacker taking on linemen.

I don't blame them.
