one of the greatest posts ever penned on here

thanks for sharing

Very kind of you to say. Thank you.

FWIW, I do think Romo can get it done in Dallas. I'm very hopeful he will lead the team to a championship before he's done. Had Meredith not been beaten into an early retirement, I think it's very likely he would have earned a Super Bowl ring.

Time will tell.

Good post, laddie. It brought tears to me Highland eyes.
As we say at the ceilidh, after a few rounds, "Nì òigear leisg bodach brisg."
(A lazy youth will make an active old man).
Romo, given time and good coaching, will become the second-best cowboys QB of all time. Second only to Roger.

Seriously White for his intelligence? First thing comes to mind with DW is "No! Danny NOOOooooo!"

Landry said that Danny was the most intelligent in terms of X's and O's of the QBs he coached.

I have not given up on Romo just yet;)

I was born in the big city of Corsicana. I'm sure you wouldn't have anything do do with a city slicker such as myself.

Galloway always says Meredeth was the best QB the Cowboys ever had.

you listen to galloway...loser....he is a loser who talks to werder and conspires to makeup stories about hall of famers.

lol

Watching highlights of meredith it looks like he had a really strong arm and was a great player.

I think Staubach was the best, and I think Aikman was right at his heels. But I think Meredith might have been the most talented. I don't think anyone ever threw the deep pass better than Meredith, and he was a mobile quarterback.

It becomes an argument sort of similar to what you might make around Archie Manning. How good was Archie? Fantastic. But he never had the opportunity to so everything he might have done.

I can see where Galloway would lean toward Meredith. I'm sure when Dandy Don was playing, Galloway was still a pure "fan" down there in Grand Prairie.

For you youngsters out there, yes, it was once common practice to smoke on planes. Furthermore, the stews were really hot.

I fly about 50-75 times every year, and my great regret is that I didn't fly when the stewardesses were still hot.

On the flipside, those hotties probably won't save your *** if your plane has to ditch in the Hudson. Eh, I'll take my chances and go with the sexy stews.

Exactly. What's the use of being rescued if you can't enjoy a little eye candy?

This is something I threw out some time back, to deafening silence, and maybe that’s what it deserved. But I have no pride.

I’ve seen Tony Romo compared to Danny White. Lately, he has even been “compared” to Troy Aikman, though more in regard to what hasn’t been achieved.

<snip>
I sense that Romo shares many of Meredith’s traits – both in terms of physical ability and personality and in terms of emotional ambivalence. Do any of you see the same thing? For that matter, do any of you see it differently?

Damn. That's a great post. ~applause~

Dandy Don was known for his competitiveness, Roger was known for his athleticsm, Danny White was known for his intelligence, and Troy was known for his diligence. It's hard to say what Romo will be known for when his career is done.

What was Quincy Carter known for?

Nice read. Perhaps the common denominator is poor O-line play...
