If you really think that the Skins have enough talent to justify Gibbs statement, then you are truly lost.

I don't think that we have enough talent that all our starting positions are set but I do think that we have a lot more talent than Cowboys fans seem to believe.

Just how Roy Williams' injury hurts his play when it suits the Cowboys' argument.

Brunell was horrible last year. He wasn't that great of a player to begin with but he had an injury that was not reported until the end of the season. His play drops off dramatically when he is injured, as evidenced last year and late in the '05 season.

Are you serious? What argument were you having? I'm guessing something along the line of...even though our entire secondary couldn't produce as many turnovers and big plays as RW did by himself in 2006, we (the Commanders) are clearly the dominant team...and if it wasn't for inuries to our CB and QB, we wouldn've gone to the playoffs. Something like that?

Bro, your team was 5-11 last year. Your head coach just claimed that no one person in the draft could come in and start on your team. BS. Either way, you're screwed.

Come on guys...not a big deal what he says to the media.

I mean no games are being played now so he can't complain about the refs. He needs to talk about something.

That's entirely possible. It's also possible that the Commanders have far less talent than the their fans would like to believe. Which one usually leads to a 5-11 season?

I never said we were the dominant team. I just said that injuries had a big role in our disappointing '06 season.

If you've ever heard Joe Gibbs speak, you would know this is nothing new.

I know you didn't, that was purely hypothetical, and based on some of the more spirited skins/boys threads here.

...and yes, I have had the pleasure of listening to Gibbs' jibba jabba. More often than I would care to actually, as I live in VA. All I'm saying, is that its a dumb statement to make, even if your a playoff caliber team. No one in the league would believe that garbage...what's the point in saying it. If I were you, however, I'd be praying that he isn't right.

Not sure where you're getting this idea about RW. Roy has caught quite a bit of flack about his poor coverage. No one including the club or Roy has made excuses about his play. And many here admit his play was not deserving of a Pro Bowl berth. He still got picked.

We're a 8-3 team that stunk it up the last five games and limped into the playoffs with a 9-7 record then lost the first playoff game.

Here's your record including your dramatic wins over Carolina and New Orleans. Teams that beat us. That you only had three more wins in the season you failed to mention.

2006 Washington Commanders Schedule
Sep 11 Minnesota - L (16-19)
Sep 17 at Dallas - L (10-27)
Sep 24 at Houston - W (31-15)
Oct 1 Jacksonville - W (36-30 OT)
Oct 8 at N.Y. Giants - L (3-19)
Oct 15 Tennessee - L (22-25)
Oct 22 at Indianapolis - L (22-36)
Week 8 BYE
Nov 5 Dallas - W (22-19)
Nov 12 at Philadelphia - L (3-27)
Nov 19 at Tampa Bay - L (17-20)
Nov 26 Carolina - W (17-13)
Dec 3 Atlanta - L (14-24)
Dec 10 Philadelphia - L (19-21)
Dec 17 at New Orleans - W (16-10)
Dec 24 at St. Louis - L (31-37 OT)
Dec 30 N.Y. Giants - L (28-34)

You are what you are. You're a 5-11 team. You want to explain why you lost fine. Don't tell us why we lost. I'm very polite when I visit another board and don't say much other than congrats on your win or season. Complain about your team on your board. We will complain about our team without your help.

I find it hard to believe Gibbs is saying that. If it's really accurate then he's been around Snyder too long.

We beat Carolina 35-14.

What he said was that no rookie would be guaranteed a starting job. To say otherwise would be foolish!

We know what he said and the foolish one is the washed up shell of his former self, Gibbs. Heck, ya might as well get Art in there.

The Commanders wouldn't be stacked even if their whole cheerleading squad got boob jobs.

could we go one day in this place without having to discuss or sit and listen to how great the Commanders are.

Is there anything more boring then reading the Commanders posters backtrack on everything that is said? And 5 minutes into every thread we have to hear about roy williams sucks, santana moss burning roy williams, all their injuries, and why joe gibbs is still an elite coach, and how they have won a playoff game.

Good grief. Go enjoy your draft and the weekend.

Gibbs really is trashing his legacy in this latest tour as head coach of the Skins... if I wasn't a Cowboys fan, I'd find it rather sad...

Injuries to Shawn Springs, Cornelius Griffin(2 of the most important players on our D) and Mark Brunell(had surgery this offseason were big reasons why our season got derailed.

1) If Gibbs and Danny Boy weren't running around paying megabucks to wastes like Archuleta and Lloyd, they might have enough cap room to get some quality DEPTH... teams get players hurt, most every year; the good ones recognize this, and plan for it... the bad ones, well, they do what the Skins do...

2) Brunell got benched because he doesn't have any ARM left, not because of injury... all he could throw was five yard dumpoffs... that might work against the Texans, but it won't get you to the playoffs...

3) How did the injuries of Springs, Griffin and Brunell cause the Skins to rank DEAD LAST in the NFL in sacks, by a wide margin?? The next worst team had six more sacks than they did...

4) If Springs is one of "the most important players on your D", how come the Skins are shopping him??

You're like most Skins fans, utterly unwilling to recognize-- and accept-- reality... the reality is, Danny Boy has put the Skins in this position, by trading away draft picks, then going out and filling out his roster with expensive free agents... in this age of the salary cap, every extra dollar you spend on a veteran free agent (as opposed to a rookie draft pick) is money you don't have to pay quality backups...

The Skins will NEVER be a serious contender, year in and year out, until they wake up and recognize that what they're doing isn't working, and never will work... oh, you might be able to put up the odd 10-6 record every once in a while, if you have a season where you stay VERY healthy... but if you suffer a "normal" number of injuries, you won't even see .500...

Our team had very little depth. Especially at the corner, and dt positions.

And why are they lacking in depth?? Could it POSSIBLY have anything to do with the way they throw major dollars at very mediocre free agents??

They were also one of the rare times in the '06 season that our D was relatively healthy.

Which might be PART of the reason why they ranked next to last in total defense...

I'll tell you just how completely inept the Skins' front office is-- they had 19 sacks last year, the only team in the last three years to post fewer than 20 sacks, that total was six sacks lower than the next worst team... IOW, they had the worst pass rush the league had seen since 2003...

And what have they done to address that glaring defect this offseason?? Absolutely NOTHING... they brought in London Fletcher-Baker to play ILB, and he's had 27.5 sacks in 144 games played, an average of 3 sacks per 16 games played...

Any competent front office would have taken aggressive steps to address such an obvious hole in their roster, but not the Skins... Gibbs, Snyder and Cerrato seem to get progressively more clueless with each passing year...

Needless to say, this makes me happy... ;)
