Not to care is your choice... and you're allowed not to care... some enjoy the roster building part of the sport... which is front and center this time of year...
I wish I could actually care a little less too but I'm hooked and there is no treatment yet... lol... I think once the season gets rolling, indirectly, you will

Yeah, I love the football aspects of it. The money I just don't care.

I do feel like I have a passing understanding of the cap and how it works, though, so that part is fun. But I just don't get all the ire and handwringing over it.

Common sense and how the cowboys have been getting lower end talent for low end prices should have told you it would be a low end price and not needed to wait until the price was announced.
