Joe Milton "Not a Good Dude" According to Patriots Insider?

Joe Milton is here because the coaches and front office wanted him here. This isn’t a Lance situation when the owner decided to go rogue because Dak wouldn’t sign the contract extension that was offered.

Interesting tidbit. Truth to the rumors?

"Joe Milton was - and this is a direct quote from somebody in the organization -'not a good dude'", Bedard said to Nick Cattles, "Knowing your role, playing your role; you know, being part of harmonious quarterback room - that was going to be an issue. And it wasn't about Drake Maye, it was just about the [quarterback] room."

So the biggest cheaters of the league are having the guts to judge somebody?

Way to go.

I'm not a fan of his abilities, but what is the one thing that we allegedly always "goes for"?
He had that one nice game against Buffalo. Can’t say he didn’t look really good, albeit very raw.

If his beef in NE was really about not being a starter, why in the world would he ask to be traded here? How is he getting the reps he needs in Dallas? Hoping Dak gets hurt?

Still trying to wrap my head around that one, but I will admit that if Dak goes down similar to 2020 or 2024, I’d rather watch Uncle Miltie over Cooper Rush. At least there’s a potential upside.

At least Jerry didn’t get completely robbed on the deal per usual, but I suppose on his end it was all about keeping fans interested in another lost season should that happen again.

Oh. OK. Thanks for clarifying that.

I wasn't a fan of Rushs abilities because he was just limited in some key areas.

However., I can't wait to see Broadway Joe in the preseason and see a good sample size of his game

Let's just hope Milton doesn't give us any cause to talk critically about him! I think he'll do nicely!

It's a good bet that he'll pass all of the criteria for an exceptional QB, while his with the Cowboys.

He should have a grand opportunity to be developed carefully, and with all the patience required.

There is no patience required or intended with this move.

Milton should be just about ready to take over for Dak, by the time his turn comes around.

I believe he's likely to get his fair share of the reps during our training camp and the preseason.

No special treatment needs to be given nor expected. He's likely to get his chances when the time comes. Dak is approaching the twilight of his career. The chances Joe gets will come soon enough.
He's still a youngster trying to develop as quickly as possible. It shouldn't take long for that to occur.

As far as I can tell, he's already got most of the measurables needed to excel once he's starting. He needs to get the mental part of the game down pat and improve his accuracy slightly. He'll be fine. I don't see him as being "not a good dude" at all, though. That was just a bad mouthing from a critic.

He spent 6 years in college, never could make the throws, never could read a defense, and was valued at the absolute bottom of the barrel in the draft, in spite of having perhaps the greatest arm the NFL has ever seen. Couldn't win a job in Michigan, couldn't at UT, where his lone year at starter was because the coaching staff didn't want to upset their wannabe superstar freshman QB by bringing in another QB. Went to NE, and they dump him after one year for essentially nothing, moving up ~30 spots at the end of what was considered a poor draft. That almost nothing offer was evidently their best offer.

He's had plenty of chances. Working his --- off won't fix his lack of talent between the ears, nor his inability to hit a WR in stride. No serious team would go into a season with him as a backup, which immediately tells us the Cowboys aren't a contender this year if he's the backup, although the old fool at the helm will protest otherwise publicly. He has zero chance to beat out Grier in a legit competition for backup QB, much less replace Dak, even if for only a game.
This.

Good stuff.

Time will tell what happens with Joe Milton and his chances with this team. As always, Jerry got him "on the cheap", so that's his big chance to make the most of it. As long as Joe makes the most of those chances, he's in. There's no doubting his measurables, but any mental limitations might yet be another big thing to overcome. Grier will do his best to outplay him in any case, no doubt.

I wasn't aware of his experiences with the Longhorns, so let's see what he has to offer once he's given his chances to impress or not to. Perhaps he'll do better than Grier but that remains to be seen. The mental part of pro football is demanding. Let's see if Joe can handle it or not. It's a tough test. Some guys are late bloomers. Some more than others. We'll see.
