Joe Milton to Eagles Active Roster

The fact that the org didn’t extend Jalen told you it was a prove it year for him. Not ideal getting hurt but seeing another QB run the O will give them intel on what Jalen was doing.
Personally I don’t think he fits the system well and McKee will be more effective.
Jalen isn't up for an extension. Nothing is stopping the team from extending him now, but that's not normal. Typically you get an extension with one year remaining on your contract. If he gets an extension, it would be after the 2027 season.

Jalen has never been a good drop back passer than can throw into coverage. The big jump from 2021 to 2022 was that they game planned around his strengths. A good run game along with him running a lot. In 2024 Barkley did most of the work. Either way, defenses had to sell out to stop the run. Making it easier for Jalen through the air. If you forced him to beat you that way, he could. The Eagles have to know that if they go to a similar system to 2021, he's not going to succeed.

Hurts is generally healthy. This is a freakish injury (cleated, infected, clotted), and more than a few people believe the Eagles medical staff mishandled the situation. I'm betting the NFLPA looks into this.
Is he? Then why did he stop running last season?

You're basing this on one game? Why didn't Clint Longley make it?

There have been a myriad of one/two game wonders over the years. Not anywhere near enough data to come to a conclusion.

Milton has trouble w/ the playbook. As long as he can dump off passes or throw to his first read he can play. However, that's not often the case against real NFL D's.
I wouldn't even count the game against the Bills. The game was meaningless to the Bills. I'm not sure what starters played.

Yeah its not a huge loss. I think it had to do more with his approach/habits/attitude etc.

Or

What we saw during the preseason wasnt indicative of what they see during practice. I say that because to my novice eye he looked much better this year.
Not really when you consider he was throwing to wide open WRs. He wasn't going through progressions or scanning the field, he was simply throwing to his 1st read, who was open because the WR was being covered by Burger flippers.

From listening to doctors in regard to Jalen's clot, it wasn't in the danger zone. They since reported it had moved. No other details.

Here's the problem. If he goes on medication for this, it's typically a 3 month course. They were probably trying to avoid that.

Two main reasons. One is that the offensive line was an injured mess and fewer designed runs were called. The other is that were doing a better job of keeping him in the pocket from the games I saw, partly a result of the broken parts of his o-line. Hurts ran an average of three times less per game on average. He didn't stop running, he simply ran less. His YPC only dropped by 0.2, nothing significant.

Hurts is getting 4.7 ypc so far this year. Hurts still holds on to the ball too long, a league leading 3.32 seconds per play, indicating that his o-line might not be a bad pass blocking line despite the injuries. But with Barkley banged up and being down to their 4th RB, let alone backups at C and LG, not to mention a 3rd string rookie at RT, not letting Hurts run looks like the plan for defenses. And somehow, that team could easily be 4-1 if their coach wasn't a brain dead fool this year.

I'm hearing now it's 45 day minimum to possibly the playoffs--not that that matters for them this year.
