Joe Milton looks good...

Joe Milton throws a pass 85 yards like it's nothing...

Someone get this QB some speedy deep running WRs...

His college stats were not something to brag about, but Joe Milton did have decent passing numbers his last year (2023) while overall committing very few turnovers.

At his 2024 NFL Combine, Joe Milton III, a 6'5", 235-pound quarterback from Tennessee, ran a 40-yard dash in 4.63 seconds.

Here's a more detailed breakdown of his combine performance:

Height: 6-foot-5
Weight: 235 pounds
40-yard dash: 4.63 seconds
10-yard split: DNP
Vertical jump: 35 inches
Broad jump: 10 feet 1 inch

A big plus is that Joe Milton barely turned 25 years old last month. If Joe Milton can improve on his game (accuracy, reading defenses, poise and execution), with his size, arm strength, scrambling/running ability and speed, he can become a formidable good QB with lots of weapons.

Something looks off about the stat sheet. Columns are not correct.
Why 6 years in college.

Still, I like the potential. There is no down side to this trade.

I really think we found our QB2. And best of all he was practically gifted to us. I’m excited but I’m trying not to get ahead of my skis on this one, but I’m really pumped about the preseason now. I hope he shows enough that we would feel confident in him keeping us afloat for a game or 2 if Dak gets hurt. Ideally I don’t want Dak to get hurt so if we don’t see him the regular season then that’s a blessing too. Unless we see him cuz we’re up by 30 point in the 4th qtr. I would like Dallas have Milton sit and learn for a year or 2. Kind of like what they did with Romo and what the Packers did with Rodgers and Love.

This offseason has a different vibe than last season. I like how we’ve accumulated former 1st rounders and younger players. I’m getting excited again. And believe me there is nothing more I like doing than bashing the Joneses but it’s been a better offseason than I expected. I’m pumped about the draft and preseason.

once they play in a NFL game their college tape is not that useful to me,i am sure nobody is watching PSU games with Micah playing LB.

Footwork needs some work - gets a little lazy with his drop backs. One of those QBs who relies on arm strength over technique.

Is there film which shows him throwing the full range of throws - the film shows great plays rather than the full range. Would like to see some more short timing patterns.

What other NFL game tape is there available for Joe Milton? If there was much, I wouldn't have created this thread and shared his college highlights.

When he transferred he kept getting hurt and lost his job. Hendon Hooker was at Tennessee.

I would tap the brakes and wait and see how he performs in camp and preseason. Too many fans are already anointing him. Some are going as far as to say he’s our future starter. This fan base is too predictable.

At least he didn't say QB1.

QB2 is not that big of an accomplishment considering he has to beat out Will Grier.

Recent history suggests that Milton will see his starts this season.
I never wish injury on anyone, but Dak can't stay healthy through week 17, Dak will miss some games.
Dak creeped in when Romo went down and Jerry ran with it and never looked back.
Now Dak is probably really looking over his shoulder, he might realize that History always repeats itself.

According to those covering the Cowboys they plan on bringing in another veteran QB later, so he’ll have to beat out two veterans assuming they keep Grier. Don’t think the Cowboys would be comfortable with Milton at number 2 unless he looks real good in camp and preseason. They’ll lean towards an experienced veteran.

He barely turned 25... was he almost eaten by a shark?

I like the kid. Like that I have heard a couple people say drake maye was a little intimidated by having him on the roster.

That’s the scenario I would like unless Milton completely tears it up in the preseason. As of right now I see Milton as being QB2 cuz the only competition it Grier. I would not be happy going into the season with our current QB room. But with our current QB room he’s our #2 and we got him for free. I like Milton as QB2 over Lance, Rush or Grier. Ideally I’d like Milton in the QB3 developmental position for 25. Unless he gives the coaches a reason to think differently in the preseason.

I agree. I do think at some point this season he’ll get some time. Depending on if they bring in a veteran for QB2 will determine how much time. I think Dallas would be idiots if they are knocked out of playoff contention and Dak was hurt and they played a veteran over Milton. Ala what they did last year with Trey.

But I can see another season ending injury for Dak and us being out of the playoffs. Then I say you have to develop for the future.
