Ok, First let me say that I am totally unhappy about the Cowboys sitting there, not signing any free agents, while teams like Eagles, Commanders and Giants are getting better in trades and free agent signings.

I will make one more mock draft (waiting for silverbears or DC hints on things they have heard from the Cowboys) and a few sources that I have.

This draft is really hard to judge for several reasons. First, the Cowboys to my estimation have looked at more players in this draft then they have at any other time. Second, with the Cowboys losing Flozell and Hamlin and Cowboys just sittting there not signing any players in free agency or trades, you dont know which direction they are going to go. You had a hint last year, with their liking Unger, but they like a ton of players this year.

Last year at this time, they already had signed Brooking, Sensabaugh and Igor. The Cowboys have some needs, but they havent signed anyone yet. :bang2:

Like Hostile said,if Iupati is there or Pouncey, I see the Cowboys taking either one. However, I dont think either one will be there. If Denver doesnt take Dez Bryant, then I see Dez falling and Tebow will be there for some team like Buffalo or Cleveland possibly.

So, the smart thing to me would be to trade down and acquire picks. This draft talent level wise is really loaded in the 2nd to the mid level 5th round. Kinda like a few years back when the 49ers got their big fullback, steve wallace, charles haley and 3 other players. The 49ers had like 3 to 4 draft picks in the 3rd and 4th round.

This is the thing I think should be done! Acquire picks like you did last year, but load up on picks 2nd round to mid 5th round.

So,here goes my mock draft.

Trading down, with Buffalo who wants Tebow, we get in value points in draft picks their 2nd, 4th, and 6th. I looked it up, the points are equal.

We also since we are in the top of the 2nd round trade either M Bennett or Spears for a 2nd round pick and a 5th.

We also get another call and trade Barber for a 4th to Miami, Parcells really wants him, so we get a 4th and a 7th.

Now, we have a 2nd, 2nd, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 4th, 4th, 5th, 6th, 6th, 7th and a 7th. Dont worry about all those extra 6's and 7's, we are going to use them to trade up in 3rd, 4th and 5th rounds.

Now, with the 2nd pick from Buffalo we take
2nd Tyson Alualu DE California Or Linvah Joseph

With pick from either Bengals or Patriots for trade we take
2nd Vladimir Ducasse OT Massachusetts or Roger Salfold

With our 2nd rounder we take
Dexter McCluster RB/WR Mississippi Or TE/FB/WR Dorin Dickerson

With our 3rd rounder, we trade one of the 7th rounders, ours which is lowest and take
Akwasi Owusu-Ansah CB Indiana (PA)

With Buffalo's 4th rounder we take
Center J D Walton, but we use another 7th rounder to trade up a few spots to assure and get Walton

With Miami's 4th rounder for Barber we take, however we trade down 3 to 5 spots to take Newhouse getting a 7th rounder in exchange
Marshall Newhouse OT/OG

With our 4th rounder we take
Emmanuel Sanders WR SMU

With the 5th rounder we take
Jason Fox OT Miami

With our 6th rounder in buffalo trade we take
Tony Washington OT Abilene Christian

With our 6th rounder we take
Micah Johnson LB Kentucky

With the 7th rounder we take
Chris McCoy DE/OLB Middle Tennessee St.

With our 7th rounder we take
John Conner FB

As free agents we take
Jameson Konz TE Kent St.
Brett Swenson K Michigan St.
Barry Church S Toledo
Trindon Holiday WR LSU
Matt Nichols QB E. Washington
Kelton Tindal WR Newberry

That is quite a number of trades to project. My qualms would be:

1. Linval Joseph is not a 2nd round pick
2. The only players I think could actually be available at the places you have them are Alualu, Ducasse, McCluster, and McCoy. I think you have Tony Washington in particular much too late.
3. I would assume Trindon Holliday and Matt Nichols will be drafted.

Joe, I admire your passion for the Cowboys, but man, this is out there. It's like a menu of the "CZ studs" by round.

Daniel Jeremiah, (@movethesticks), said on his Twitter feed yesterday that he's hearing from multiple teams that Joseph will be gone by the end of the 2nd round. He is currently on ESPN's First Take for the week to talk about the draft. He was a scout for BAL and CLE. I'm not saying his word is gospel, by any means, but he seems to have a lot of insight into the draft. I'm sure he still has solid connections inside the scouting community. Take it for what you will.

I think you might need to get out of the war room for a bit.

I don't get the mentality of some guys on this board who want to trade away Bennett, Barber, and Spears for picks. We aren't a rebuilding team that needs to stockpile a bunch of mid-round picks to fill out our roster. We are in a position to contend with a relatively young roster. I also think 3 or 4 of your UDFA's will end up being 6th & 7th round picks.

Its reachy, and any draft with Jason fox is a good one. Plus Matt Nichols, just trade Kitna and Cut McGee now as we have our successor in him.

Gotta love CBJ's enthusiasm!
That 35th cup of coffee just may have put our partner in crime over the top though.:D

:hammer:

Joe, I wish I had your passion for the Cowboys and the draft but man this isn't going to be anywhere close to reality.

How do you fit all these people on the 53 man?

easy, Proctor gone, McQuistan gone, Holland already gone, Duke Preston retiring, Hamlin Cut, Flozell cut, Suisham cut, Deon Anderson gone or traded if were lucky, Barber traded, Bennett or Spears traded, CB Gordon gone, Siavii gone with Joseph drafted, Watkins gone,

Thats 13 players gone, cut, traded etc..

12 picks?

Yeah I dont think thats happening this year. We did something similar to that last yr and we dont have that many open spots to fill.

I suspect the most picks we'd come out of this draft with are 7 or 8.
