62 hotdogs in 10 minutes? How is that possible? It takes me 2 days to eat that many.

Pretty nasty no matter how its done. I love hotdogs. But 60+ in 1/6th an hour. That just makes my stomach turn thinking about it.

And Sarge, I don't think I could eat that many in two days either. Not because I would get sick, but I would want something else to eat.

I don't understand eating contests at all. The guy that did this owns the record for eating that huge steak in Amarillo the fastest ever. It is a 72 ounce steak and he did it in under 9 minutes.

So this makes me wonder, how many could you eat?

I'll say maybe 10 at the most. probably not even that.

7-10 for me lol.

Does anyone actually watch this event? I don't understand this fascination with watching people eat, especially if they are trying to stuff food into their mouths faster than the guy next to them.

I'm not proud to say this, but for us, it's been kind of a 4th of July tradition. We watch it every year right before our local parade. Nathans hotdogs are gross to begin with, but 62 in 10 minutes is mindboggling.

When I lived in Ohio, those people thought they were heavenly. I never really got it.

Hotdogs are nasty to begin with, but Nathans are bottom of the barrel. Salty and just........bad.

I guess it might depend on how you are viewing it. Is it like a football game where you are cheering on a certain contender or are you more like  then :lmao2: and :lmao: at the sheer ridiculousness of the event?

An odd "sport" when the PED of choice is pepto*.

There was a great documentary on MTV about competitive eating (True Life) that followed Kobayashi and others around and how they prepare for it.

In a weird way, I did gain some modicum of respect for them because there is a science behind training for it, not killing yourself and then maximizing your eating potential on the day of competitio...and then recovery. And there's some mechanics to it as well because you can't eat it in big chunks or your stomach will fill up too quickly.

Believe it or not, I'm just curious as to how the eaters have gotten so good lately. It used to be Kobayashi would eat around 55 hot dogs and then the next closest competitor would be about 25-30. Now guys are eating more and more, so there must be something they discovered.
