My counter point to this is we probably lose the game if it wasn't for porter not holding down what he needed to... I agree, he doesn't fix what ails us most, but he is certainly an upgrade to what we've seen in his limited action. At least Von Miller rolled out of bed and put his hands up and batted down a ball.

We are going to need Po 'er to get up to full snaps. Stewart is simply not good. Bland is Bland at this point. For better or worse the Cowboys are stuck with him this year. Just hope that Revel, Locke and Thompson return quickly and Porter gets to full speed. If you can somehow give up one TD less, the offense won't be in these damn shoot-outs every Sunday. But I don't see deep playoff run in the Cowboys future this year. Even with Porter the Cowboys still have a cornerback problem. If Bland is going to be anything special it will require a more potent pass rush.

If you watch him he’s not any different than he was. Doesn’t look hurt. He’s just not the corner to pay 20 million for who doesn’t have a pass rush. Did we ever see him without Micah?

While I'm inclined to agree with you that a playoff run seems loony tunes, I'm not totally willing to say it's impossible. Our run D is climbing up and once some of our injured guys come back I can see the team as a whole possible up for ascension... Jerry does seem to be a wheelin and dealin mood, maybe he hooks another impact player? The little devil on my shoulder pokes me and laughs at our cowboys, but the one of the angelic orgin reminds me that teams can start slow and takeoff... I will admit though, I don't have much faith in Shotty, he seems like another Jerry Puppet. During the game when we were losing and things looking like they were headed sideways, especially when shotty tried for a long field goal and gave the texans great field position I said to my family, Shotty might just get fired after this game if we lose and makes a few more boneheaded calls.. I guess he lives to fight another day..

Truthfully he’s just getting beat. Some good coverage some he’s beat. It’s more acceptable on a rookie deal. 20 plus million a year….and he’s no longer generating turnovers which in part is because of the pass rush.

Good coverage doesn't matter at all if you can't make a play. If that were the case Chidobe Awuzie would have been the greatest corner of all time.

Serious question, I know Bland had his best seasons in the slot. But isn’t Downs primarily the slot now? If we put Bland at the slot, where he’s best, then where does Downs play?

Downs plays a hybrid DB role. It’s called the “Star” a role and name coined by Nick Saban.

He’s a Safety, a CB and a LB varying by play

that's what happens, he's a lockdown corner, and then other people are going to get picked on, and likely break. Its nice to see a guy aho held out all offseason and doesnt play unitl week 4 ,on a new team, in new scheme, did pretty well, better stuff to come..

People were asking why he wasn’t on Collins every play, but one of rhe ways to use your CB1 is to put them on the opposing WR2, neutralizing him, and then doubling the WR1 every play. It was a strategy credited to Belichick.

Not at all. He only played there his rookie year. His best year he played boundary 90% of the time. This "Bland is best suited to to play slot " belief people have isnt grounded in fact

first of all awuzie still a solid player playing in this league currently but porter is better..facts he held out all offseason hasnt payed game and comes in and still our best corner today.. ironic huh?

Man he looked soft today. But Stewart got targeted everywhere he went. And who the hell is Speed? They need to ramp up Porter J over the next few weeks because it's just not good. Three short fields bequeathed to the Texans wasn't good either. Special teams is horrible...and with the current defense it's beginning to chap my rear that Schottenheimer is not taking this into account when trying these 60+ yard field goals. One blocked, the other missed and two short fields that led to points for the Texans iirc. And Dee Winters? Not feeling that guy either.
