If you've ever watched a Marshall game, you know this is one of those guys who gets his name called by the announcers 15 times a game. 3-4 OLB, finished the year with 16 sacks (1st in the NCAA). 20 TFL's (2nd in NCAA), 5 forced fumbles (2nd in the NCAA). He had a very nice combine, and ran a fast time (4.58).

It takes a while to load, and you'll probably want to zoom it to full screen. (right click->zoom->full screen)

I have had the pleasure of watching Goddard the last few years...he is a high motor never say die player.

His height might sway some people away from him but I would love it if we got him later in the draft.

OH and for those that think he just played against small teams while at marshall....they played Kansas State, Florida, Ohio State, Tennesee and Georgia.....they won the Kansas State game and besides florida they were in every other game with a chance to win them.....actually the game vs Ohio State this past season just helped add to the ledgend of Nugent as he had to kick a 53-55 yard FG in the closing seconds to win the game.

Man I'd love to grab Merriman or DJ with 11, Clayton or Williamson at 20, Blackstock in round 2, and this guy in round 4. What an LB corps we'd have!

Goddard is QUICK off the corner. The QB snaps the ball and Goddard is in his face. That reminds me of how quick Haley was getting to the QB and the DL pressure the championship Bronco teams put on the QB.
I had never seen Goddard play but man, his highlight reel is just as impressive as any of the top tier LBs, only slightly lesser competition.

Wow, I wouldn't have thought there were any prospects out there I hadn't heard of, but I never heard of Goddard... I like the 16 sacks, the 5 forced fumbles and the 40 time...

Can you give me some idea of his size and weight??

Before this year he was known as "Mr. Personal Foul" among those who followed Marshall football.

The guy would absolutely crush people long after the whistle had blown.

He finally got his head on straight this year and put up a monster year.

They said he did real well in the agility drills at the combine and should be able to make the transition from undersized DE in college to LB in the pros.

I look for him to go in fourth, but wouldn't be surprised if someone took a chance on him late in the third.

Man I keep watching this video, I LOVE THIS KID!!!
I love the way he refuses to be blocked. And he can do everything, gets to the qb, takes an INT back for a TD, always causing fumbles...he's like a cheaper version of DJ. Looks like he has good speed and agility and the guy just flies around...and i like the 'tude he brings. He could help make a defense nasty and we certainly could use that.
I want this kid to be a 'Boy!!!!
If we trade the 20 pick down and get a second and third....we need to grab Goddard with one of our seconds our third.

Man I hate highlight vids that focus on just the hit. I wish they had showed the whole play so I could actually tell if he's any good.

Did his guy just blow the coverage and invite him into the back field? Or did he blow past his guy with a bull rush or speed move? Does he play with good fundentals on the run game (blocking his hole, turning the run inside, blowing up blockers)? Can he chase down a player?

These kinds of videos look good until you are trying to break down a player.

Having said that, the one thing you can tell is that unlike DJ this guy knows how to tackle. He wraps the second he hits and he always hits at the center of the target. Plus his head is up and his aproach angle is good.

Everyone always says that you can teach fundentals.. I agree... But these kids have been taught that for the last 8 years... if they haven't managed to pick it up yet, how long will it take to learn a Pro Defense?

Well he dominated whoever Georgia threw at him last year and completely outplayed David Pollack.

Yep I remember the game....by the end of the game the announcers were talking about how much of a force goddard was and how lucky georgia were to get out of that game without a loss.
