To quote Dean Stanforth from the fourth Indiana Jones movie:

"We seem to have reached the age where life stops giving us things and starts taking them away."

:( I'm 45 but all these deaths of beloved actors always remind me of this quote. Lost my father a couple of years ago.

What we can do is not forget them and always enjoy their art.

As a kid growing, watching Good Times, John Amos was probably the father figure I related too the most. Seems weird, for a kid growing up in a log house in the country, but he just seemed more realistic than all the "nice, patient" fathers on TV.

I've never seen him in any role in which I didn't like him...though I was a bit surprised (humorously) to see him play Stacy Keach's life partner on Two and a Half Men.

RIP, Mr. Amos.

Most folks (who were around at the time :) ) remember John Amos playing James Evans in Good Times during the 1970's. However, I wonder how many folks remember him playing a recurring role as a supporting actor on another hit comedy of that decade in The Mary Tyler Moore Show? Here is a scene I was lucky to find on YouTube pretty quickly that I remembered:

Still cracks me up. Amos was one of the last remaining cast members still living.

Thank you, Mr. Amos. Thank you for Good Times. For All About the Andersons. For MTM. For The West Wing. For Hunter.

For Roots. Rest in peace, sir.
