One of the biggest complaints about WWE superstar John Cena is that his character has grown stale and boring over the years. It was the same complaint that arose concerning Hulk Hogan in the late 80s. It wasn’t until Hogan turned heel and joined the nWo that his career revived and he became interesting again. However, that will never happen with Cena. In an interview with Variety on Wednesday, Cena said that he will never turn bad.
Cena said that he feels that turning heel will erase everything you stand for. He called it a poor business decision. Cena told the story of an eight year old with cancer who said that he was fighting because that is the lesson that John Cena preaches. He said that, if you turn heel, you won’t win that kid back over. Cena then said that too much circulates around money and it has become hard to find people to look up to.
John Cena has granted over 450 wishes to the Make a Wish Foundation over his career. When looking at everyone who works with the organization, from the world of sports, Hollywood and more, no one has granted more wishes than John Cena has. With his strong commitment to work in charity, and especially with kids, Cena has a lot more to risk than other wrestlers when turning heel.
