I am excited about this guy this coming year. If you remember he played lights out last preseason before the injury. It would be nice to get rid of the bum Bennett and get a pick for him.

I don't have an opinion pro or con on your bennett comment.

However I am hoping Phillips comes back and continues to do well.

Exactly... those 7 career catches of his show enormous potential.

The silver-lining with the Phillips injury is that it happened very early during last season's preseason. Now he's had more than enough time to recover and rehab from the injury.

I would have preferred it later, if that meant Gronk didn't miss his assignment and got Tony hurt because it would have been Phillips and not Gronk in the game.

I agree. He is gonna be a nice player for us IF he can stay healthy.

Bennett plays great every preseason as well. Plus he's more talented all around and a far better blocker.

And Phillips played "lights out" in one half as fyi.

This is just another of those jump all over a bandwagon things that fans tend to do.

I like Phillips too, and feel he has a chance to be a nice contributor, and maybe even more than that, but any talk of letting Bennett go or any speculation about him being anything other than a 3rd string TE is premature. He showed promise in limited time, then suffered a season ending knee injury, and as a result his future is still very uncertain.

I was really high on John Phillips coming into the year, I hope the ACL tear doesn't slow down his progress.

Yep, but it was a HOF performance. ;)

I am a huge fan of John Phillips, he will be around alot longer than Bennett even though people wont admit it. He has a desire to improve & make the most out of every snap.

The guy has played a handfull of games and missed more games in a shorter career than Phillips. Why would anyone "admit" that Phillips will be around longer.

I like Phillips too, but this is similar to the way people were viewing Ogletree a year ago. A glimpse of potential is not proof of anything, it is only a basis for hope.

Much as I love Witten and like Phillips, Witten has alot of miles on him, unless somebody overwhelms you with a trade offer, Marty should probably stay.

Exactly. Witten isn't young, and Phillips isn't proven AND is coming back from a serious knee injury. I like Phillip's potential, but I can't see banking on it at the moment.
