The reports of Manziel not being in his room came from A.J. McCarron. Apparently, the staff at the camp asked A.J., why he had not woken Manziel up, the first time, and McCarron said that he could not. The second time it happened, they asked him again and he said that Manziel was not there.

According to the rumors, that's when the decision to ask him to leave was made.
