Johnny Manziel sent home from Manning Passing Academy for showing up late, hungover. Have a feeling last year was it. Downhill from here.

If we're to believe issued statements, Johnny Manziel only had the "eight hour flu." Or, as the rest of the world knows it, a "hangover."

Some Internet reports have stated Manziel had been sent home by Archie Manning because of "partying," but camp officials were adamant those reports were inaccurate.

"Johnny Manziel did participate in some activities in the 2013 Manning Passing Academy as a college counselor/coach," the statement said. "After missing and being late for practice assignments, Johnny explained that he had been feeling ill. Consequently, we agreed that it was in everyone's best interest for him to go home a day early."

Source: Johnny Manziel apologizes
Updated: July 16, 2013, 10:24 AM ET
By Joe Schad | ESPN

Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel has apologized to the Aggies' coaching staff and is being advised to be honest about what led to his much-discussed departure this past weekend from the Manning Passing Academy, a source told ESPN.

The Heisman Trophy winner did not finish his scheduled stay as a college coach/counselor at the camp at Nicholls State University in Thibodaux, La., because he missed assigned meetings and practice sessions, citing dehydration and illness. He apologized privately to camp officials for being unable to fulfill his commitment.

I get a feeling that in a few years, he'll at best be the answer to an obscure trivia question.

The first freshman to win a Heisman Trophy isn't that obscure of a trivia question. At least not in a few years. Maybe in 50 years or so.

What former Edmonton Eskimo backup quarterback who participated in "Dancing with the Stars" won a the Heisman trophy at an agricultural and military school in Texas?

This is a good example of what happens when you take for gospel what the media says.
