I was looking at speculation about trades for McNabb or Kolb and got to thinking about Kitna. In my not so humble opinion, he might be a better option than these teams currently have, albeit a short term solution while they groom replacements. (Apologies to baj1dallas that he cannot see the list now.)

Commanders
Vikings (if Favre hangs em up for real)
Panthers (I do like Moore, but he isn't ready)
Buccaneers
Cardinals (Since Warner hit the rocking chair)
Rams
49ers
Bills
Dolphins (maybe)
Browns
Jaguars (another maybe)
Broncos (Orton played decent but that is a mirage)
Raiders
Chiefs

If we had any kind of backup option and Jerry got a phone call he might listen. Since we don't, he won't.

Hmm..I do wonder if a team would offer up a 5th for him. Those teams drafting a QB high this year may want a veteran to rely on.

That is a lot of teams with bad quarterbacks.

You should take the Skins off that list though, since we know they're going to reach for a QB on April 22nd.

I'm talking about right now though.

Why do you think Moore is not ready? He will be entering his 4th season next year and has some good experience. If he isn't ready now he may never be. He may make a Romo type move this year with the Panthers. Jake will start the season and get benched part way through leaving the door open for Moore.

I don't think Moore would have helped Dallas in 2007 or 2008 had they kept him. He was not ready then, but he seems like a solid back up now and possible starter.

Oh, I know - I was just taking a dig at the Deadskins :D
I always encourage that. Let me help you.

In 1953 the team that has cross dressing pig fans drafted a guy named Buzz Nutter. In 1963 they drafted a guy named Harry Butsko. I kid you not.

On the pathetic scale consider this as well. In the 1st round of the 1946 Draft they drafted a Back out of UCLA named Cal Rossi. The only problem was, he was not Draft eligible at the time. So they basically blew their draft pick.

In 1947 they determined to make up for it and again took him in the first round. Apparently they were unaware of the fact he had no intention of playing professional football and he never played a down for them.

Enjoy.

Yep, so we can bring back Brad Johnson.

I would add the Seahawks to your list. Matt Hasselbeck (done), Seneca Wallace, and Mike Teel? Maybe the Seahawks would be interested in a trade for Kitna.

I feel comfortable with Kitna as our backup and expect him to remain as the backup for at least 1 to 2 more years.

The Cardinals makes the most sense. They have a team but no qb. I doubt they do it though. Next would be the Vikings w/out Favre...

Panthers (I do like Moore, but he isn't ready)

Are you nuts Hos? Moore played great down the stretch with the Panthers.

Here are his stats as a starter in 2009:

Win/loss: 4-1
Att: 127
Comp: 79
Comp%: 62.2%
Yards: 990
Avg: 7.79
TDs: 8
TD%: 6.3%
INTS: 1
INT%: 0.79%
Rating: 104.1

I dunno, seems pretty ready to me.

The Panthers were 4-7 when he took over, and with nothing to play for, brought them to 8-8 on the season.

Oh, their opponents in those final 5 games:

Bucs - W
Patriots - L
Vikings - W
Giants - W
Saints - W

Now granted the Saints didn't have anything to play for but Carolina is a division opponent. They also stomped the Vikings and Giants who DID have something to play for.

Yes it helped having a great running game but the fact is that Moore did an outstanding job of controlling the game and leading the team.

I was very bummed when we kept Brad Johnson and let Moore go (trying to put him on the PS) when it was abundantly clear that Johnson had nothing left and Moore had potential.

People are going to be very surprised by how good this kid is next year.

Kitna would be smart to leave so he could start.

I see more upside in Henne with Miami.

:laugh2: They might be more pathetic than the Detroit Lions all time...how did the Commanders ever win a Super Bowl without a strike-shortened season?

That absolute dismantling of the Giants was one of the most fun games I watched all year.

I gotta believe that a part of him signing an extension was that he made it clear he wanted to be in Dallas as a backup.

I don't think he goes anywhere.

Those are some interesting thoughts. And I agree with most of your list in that Kitna is at least as good as most on the list.

Very interesting and original.

I agree with all except the Panthers, Cardinals and the Broncos(Orton is not a mirage, he is a bus driver) a system QB, hopefully now McDaniels understands Orton better.

Matt Moore is a fantastic QB.

Campbell is extremely underrated, he has a TERRIBLE offensive line. Put him in the star backing up Romo under our line, albeit it is an average one he will produce.
