Draft prospect evaluations are constantly changing based on college performances, combine results, and pro day workouts.

It is also important to note that performance in the NFL can vary greatly from college performance.

Analyzing player attributes involves considering their strengths in various on-field aspects. When comparing Jonathan Mingo to potential 2025 NFL Draft prospects, here's a breakdown of some potential positive attributes, keeping in mind that player evaluation is dynamic and depends on evolving performance:
  • Physicality and Size:
    • Mingo possesses a significant physical presence, which can be advantageous in contested catch situations and when battling defensive backs.1 This size can also be a plus in blocking situations.
  • Blocking Ability:
    • Often, larger receivers can contribute effectively to run blocking. If Mingo has demonstrated a willingness and capability in this area, it sets him apart, as blocking is a valuable but sometimes overlooked skill for wide receivers.
  • Contested Catch Strength:
    • His size and strength can make him a reliable target in tight coverage, particularly in the red zone. If he has shown the ability to win these 50/50 balls, it's a significant asset.
  • NFL Caliber Strength:
    • Having already time in the NFL, he has experience with the speed and physical nature of the game. That experience can be a great asset, compared to incoming rookies.
  • Experience:
    • Having NFL experience can be a large advantage. He has already had the chance to learn NFL playbooks, and game speed.2 This experience can put him ahead of fresh rookies.

I loved Mingo as a prospect…but at this point who cares bc he's not a good NFL player.
Try telling Jerry and Stephen this who have penciled him as a GREAT addition and a cheap addition so as far to say we've used our resources at the position and feel comfortable not taking any more wr's!

Hmm.... I must have missed where says about speed,.. separation ability.. open field run after catch skills ....

That’s good perspective…but what if we could’ve gotten our starting RB of the future in the 4th this year?
Plenty of running backs in this draft. A third round graded back will be available in the 5th. Or if you want a 4th pick back you make a small trade down in the second round. You guys way overvalue 4th round picks.

I don't think that they ever thought he was a great addition, just that he had some value for his potential. They traded for him because they knew they'd have him under contract for cheap this year and could see if he can reach his potential. They thought his potential+contract was worth a fourth-round pick.

If Mingo wasn't under contract through this season for cheap, they wouldn't have taken a chance on him.

Our front office operates on the principle that other people's junk can become their treasure. Most of the time, it just remains junk.

Probably will draft a WR with one of the first 3 picks meaning we will have spent 2 of the first 4 picks on WRs. And that’s why we haven’t won crap in 30 years

I like Mingo but what scares me is he can’t get seperation.

Ferguson, Biadisz, Pollard, DA, Dak…

It’s a borderline top 100 that is big.

I think there will be good backs in the 5th too but we missed out on good ones last year bc we didn’t have a 4th.

There was one who hit in Tampa. Who knows if Dallas would have taken him. The Cowboys needed leverage for Dak. Last season they needed a big bodied receiver. 4th round gamble. Sometimes you take it.

I noticed you left out the 4th round defensive end busts and the 3rd round comp pick bust as well. It’s 50/50 Even if those guys have an ok career. Well worth the trade gambles.

There were literally 5 RBs taken quickly after we would’ve picked that all showed signs of being good players their rookie year.

Maybe you liked the “gambles” of trading for Lance and Mingo but we’re talking about 2 guys that had done borderline nothing in the NFL when we traded for them. Bad move IMO.
