A few weeks ago, I said if AJ Brown and Deebo had a baby, this would be him.

Draft buzz isn’t big around this guy…yet. Rewind time to right around the combine and he was mocked on many boards to go in the 5th round territory. I’ve seen him hovering in the 4th at present which could make him a steal.

Lately it seems as if nfldraftbuzz.com has been one of the better sites in terms of updating player rankings. Here’s a link to their site. If you’re a numbers/measurables geek, all the info. is there. Including their player comp., which is Deebo Samuel.

nfldraftbuzz Mingo

If you’re a team that can benefit from having a big-bodied receiver, and this guy somehow makes it to 4th (cross your fingers he doesn’t start trending), you need to sprint your draft card to the podium.

The names of the “Top 30” have just started popping up over the last few days, and we are not close to the full contingent yet. But until somebody releases the full names of all 30 “Top 30” visitors, here’s what we have so far (Player rank on the CBS board in brackets to give a better idea of where in the draft a prospect is generally slotted)

  • (10) Quentin Johnston, WR, TCU
  • (40) Emmanuel Forbes, CB, Mississippi State
  • (45) Josh Downs, WR, North Carolina
  • (50) Steve Avila, OL, TCU
  • (83) Jaquelin Roy, DT, LSU
  • (105) Zach Evans, RB, Ole Miss
  • (131) Tyrique Stevenson, CB, Miami
  • (142) Marte Mapu, LB/S, Sacramento State
  • (157) Atonio Mafi, OL, UCLA
  • (192) Jonathan Mingo, WR, Ole Miss
  • (198) Brayden Willis, TE, Oklahoma
  • (201) Tanner McCalister, S, Ohio State
  • (246) Clayton Tune, QB, Houston
  • (270) Payne Durham, TE, Purdue
  • (307) Tyler Lacy, DL, Oklahoma State

Big fan of Mingo. In a draft with so many small slot type receivers, he’s a guy that stands out. I don’t see him getting out the 3rd round but stranger things have happened.

This doesn’t include formal combine visits though does it? Feel like we’re missing ite a few players.

These are the names BtBoys collected for our Top 30 visits which is outside of the Combine interviews I believe.

Zay is favorite target at 26 for WRs. Dudes a flat out stud.

I’d be cool with Addison too. He’s small but gives me Davonta lite vibes.

I don’t know what to think about Johnston.
I don't understand why there is more interest in Downs over Flowers. In my opinion, Flowers offers more outside ability and is the better route runner of the two.

He fits the Cowboys prototype at the position, but this year they are also actually considering the undersize receivers for once. Think Mingo is the perfect x receiver.

Flowers would appear to be a slightly better prospect. But Downs has has been terrific in these pre-draft workouts. We apparently love the player. I wouldn’t take either either in round 1, but I’d consider both in round 2.

I struggle with taking a player like Downs as he is just a slot only receiver. See more versatility in Flowers game.

Flowers I think has a little bit more variety, but there is very little separation in these players. If you have a plan to use him Downs is a very good prospect. Not a round 1 guy but certainly wouldn’t be upset with him in round 2.

There are going to need to replace Shultz's production on third downs, adding a player like Josh Downs doesn't make some sense. Personally, I don't want to see another receiver drafted this yr, we have bigger needs to fill after Cooks was brought in.
