Jones can't evaluate talent

Years ago. there was a great post about this that I'm always reminded of. Basically:

The Cowboys are really good at evaluating certain positions (OL being the most obvious, WR, maybe LB). So they tend to draft those positions. And everyone high-fives in the war room because they got the player they wanted, and the pick turns out to be a strong player so no one criticizes the pick. But it's not drafting in a way that builds champions.

If you win 13 games like they did a few years ago, you can be a champion.

Tyler Smith. The player who, in his first two seasons, is a 2x pro bowl and 1x all pro.

You called him a bust.

You’re just trolling.
I dont call the player bad. But as far as a draft pick he is a bust.

He was drafted with a premium first round pick to be our future LT. He wasnt able to beat out a injury riddled tyron with a serious bad back who was way beyond the end of his career.

We were lucky that he is able to play inside. As i said he is a very good LG. But LG is the second least important position on the OL. You can find such (aka very good) guys in the thrid round and you have to if you want to call yourself good at drafting players. You just cant throw your resources away this way. Not if you want to be competitive.

We busted again by taking tyler gyuton with a premium pick following our search for our new LT. He was benched during the season.

Now we spend a top 12 pick on the least i.portsnt player on the OL. Thats ridiculous.

But i wrote all of that already.

Call me what you want if you all dont want to up your expectations again. If you wanna dwell where we have been in the last 20 years be happy with such ridiculous overspending achieving exactly zero.

Or you maybe start to think what is really wrong inside ponderosa.

By your definition Zach Martin was a bust

Not really. Fans need to realize what JAG players truly are. That term is floated around way too often, because many fans want to complain there are not pro-bowlers at ever position.
And fans need to realize just because someone was drafted in the first or second by another team doesn’t mean they are actually first or second round talents.

Elam has been beaten like a drum in the NFL, mingo has been trash, the LB from the titans is a player, and I love the Milton trade but stop saying things like fans need to realize.

Just because the Jones’ trade for someone who was drafted high doesn’t mean they are good.

Can't disagree there.
However, they were much more active this year, than last year. Which was non existent. Other than the draft, which remains to. be seen how that works out.

I am ok with what they have done this year so far. Not great, but not horrible like many want to say.
No real significant improvements, but not worse off either. Then there is the health of many players from last season. Will / when they be 100%.
Exactly.

They chose to sit out of FA making the fan base think they were moving on from
Dak only to sign him to a record setting deal. Which after watching him and his interactions with the media basically said he had a deal they were just waiting to announce it.

That was a massive slap in the face of the fans. And to be honest, to McCarthy too.

So to sit here and defend these clowns like some here do makes no sense to me.

Certainly had something to do with it...Sanders, etc, had success running behind them as well. Don't debate otherwise, it plays a huge factor yet doesn't take how solid of a back he is. Take it one step further: strong D, WRs. There is a reason the Iggles won and it wasn't just their RB
It was a massive part.

The reason Hurts was able to carve KC up the way he did is because they sold out to stop Barkley.

If that’s sanders back there, eagles no only don’t get to the SB they don’t win it.

You do know it was only the 1st round, and it is a deep RB class.
IMO there were no legit workhorse, STUD RBs in this draft (not even Jeanty). I think Jeanty is good, but not Top 10 pick good (maybe I'll be proven wrong).

BUT there are a lot of "by-committee" guys in this draft. These are the guys that won't wear down after 4 years, but may not hit 1000yds in any season.

Miles Sanders is a solid example of that: Has only one 1000+yd season, but he's had a good career, still healthy, quality RB in a rotation of RBs (better than Williams IMO)

I did not say they were good, as in a difference maker.
But for now they look as if they can step in right away and contribute.
Of course we need to wait to see on the field.

The jones boys and McClay can’t evaluate talent. That’s why they keep taking offensive lineman. It’s a safe pick. They are afraid to take a chance on a skill player. We needed a Running Back. If they don’t pick one in the second round we know they had no plan.
Cowboys are one of the best drafting teams in the NFL.:lmao::lmao: Only hear this nonsense here.

Lol and he was running behind what line? I swear our fan base wants known name sexy picks and players. Most of yall complained when we drafted Frederick and Martin
Yeah, that never made any sense. The complaining. Those were great picks, and I loved them from the start.

There's probably some truth to that though I think the fact that the next best available DT on the board was from Michigan was too scary, they're still PTSD of that school.
