He doesn't give you anything that Thompson doesn't. Would be fine as a #5 or whatever, but we've got no need for him.

I bet someone will pick him up as a vet presence after Week 1 when his contract is no longer guaranteed.

Wonder what made them sour so quick over him?
Just the injury or a combo of that and ...?

Signed a fullback after his release. They already have a legit FB in Pat D.

Maybe Patterson finally learned how to run his routes? Maybe Dorsett came on?

He can run and get open, but his hands are a major issue, for what we have I think he would be worth a look.

The Pats got Matthews for almost no guaranteed money
Very easy to cut ties if it costs you only 170k

Edleman
Hogan
Dorsett
Patterson
are all making the team

Barrios--this rookie probably makes it

Then there's still
Malcolm Mitchell,
Kenny Britt,
and others

Matthews was already being listed a s a backup behind Dorsett--who has looked good.
. Not a huge stretch to let him go

On our roster of scrub receivers everyone looks good...… I like Gallup's upside, but with what I have seen of Matthews and I think he can be coached, would take him over any other receiver we have...

Probably Decker. Just a better fit.

Thompson and Matthews don't play remotely similiar or at the same position. Like at all.

I'd love Matthews as our big body slot. We already have Beas as our quick out slot. It would bring a different element to our offense.

Three weeks until the season starts, if it was a "significant' hamstring injury he won't be able to practice for several weeks, Cowboys would have to cut somebody who has practiced and played with the team, for a guy who's never practiced or played for them.

Now if they could pick him up and put him on the p.s., maybe, but after 4 years in the league I doubt that's possible...
