i chalked it up to a miss when they decided on the field goal bc i thought the points might matter. my heart tells me he'll make the so-called "routine" kicks but if we ever "need" one, forget it. or miss the routine ones early (see last night) that could be the difference in a game late.

oh well. really shouldnt have come down to him anyway, IMO.

Even All-Pro kickers occasionally miss from the 41. Cortez missed by inches. Get over it. If you're making a list of players to blame, he'd be about 20th on the list.

I just hate Cortez. Period. He went to OSU, enough reason for me to what to kill him in the 1st place. I've seen him fail for SF. I was scared hed miss the PAT and the 30 yarder

he's been better than I thought he would be. Kick offs are much improved I think. Deep baby.

everyone knows what a turd this guy is, especially those of us who live in the bay area and have seen him before. the guy literally cant kick it past 25 yards without shanking the crap out of the ball. he cant even kick straight, much less make anything remotely clutch.

As someone said earlier, the fact that he crosses his chest after every kick he makes gets me thinking his prayers were just answered. We used to have a goal keeper who we called the holy man. Every ball that was kicked his way was either by a "Oh my God!!!" or "Jesus Christ!!!". Didn't make us feel very comfortable. :bang2:

Maybe if we actually played to win instead of playing not to lose we would not even have to worry about brining up Cortez. Bledsoe even said they played for the FG to go up 13-0. Playing not to lose. What a stupid coach we have.

I was half joking about him costing us the game. We shot ourself in the foot on defnes.e Im just saying, the guy will miss alot of routine kicks. 71% aint that good. I pointed out from 40-49 yards, where you're gonna kick alot of FG's from, he's terrible. Cundiff was alot better at that range, and I had more faith in him than I ever will in cortez.

He has a problem with his mechanics and it shows in every kick that he attempts. He pulls the ball to the left on every kick.

Cundiff was VERY sound on mechanics. Notice how Cundiff's went absolutely straight? Even on the misses. When Cundiff did miss, it was ALWAYS to the right and ALWAYS when he was on the right hash mark. Yet, the ball flew absolutely straight. I even called a miss prior to the kick last year when he was on the right hashmark. He always worried me when he was on that side.

Cortez DOES have problems kicking. He has had them his ENTIRE career.

The hardest part to being a kicker is getting into the system....once you are in, you can virtually gravitate from team to team....Cortez is a prime example of this.

Cortez better get over it quickly. Missing another one in the next 2 games, especially if it's the difference in a win or loss, BP won't keep him around.
