I hope people will start laying off this guy. He has been a stud for us and a huge upgrade over cundiff. only 1 miss all year and kick-offs that consistently reach the end zone. what more could you want?

Good for him. Lets see him hit a game winner with pressure on his shoulders. If he can do that when the time comes on a consistent basis then he will take less heat.

Good game. Great deep kickoffs and 4-4 on FGs. Good for him.

He hasnt had the pressure on him yet we shall see. Good Kickoffs but he had problems hitting pressure kicks at SF

No they do NOT. From what I remember, one maybe two reach the endzone. All others land about the 10 yd line. Don't make it sound like he is jackin them halfway into the endzone EVERY time when you know he doesn't.

He had 2 that went into the endzone the others he was able to hang pretty high to allow coverage units to get down the field. Right now Cortez has been doing the job and as long as he keeps doing that I'm sure he will have a job in Dallas.

He also missed the one in Washingotn that would of made us 4-1.

So 4 meaningless kicks in a blow out doesnt completely wipe that from my memory

I can understand that but I don't understand the ideal that because he failed in San Fran that means he will fail here. Player work on their game so they can improve and thus far Cotez has been doing the job. I agree his job is secure as long as he keeps making his kicks

And he made the tackle when the KO coverage broke down.

Well, half the kickers in the league are week to week. If by week 10 hes banging them out at a better percentage than cundiff last year, keep him around

Lets see more of cortez. I know this guy in the clutch is awful . I just think you cant trust him for the pressure kick or anything in the high 40-s. Right now hes doing a fairly decent job , but dont forget he missed an extra point he should of made, good snap or bad snap should of made the freaking kick. he missed an easy 41 yarder against the skins which ended up costing us the game. Id still rather have cundiff at this point and thats really not saying much for cortez

I'm definetly on board with that. My friend and I were talking about what a pleasant surprise he's been. I love the kickoffs. In my opionion that is a very under appreciated weapon. Especially in crunch time at the end of the half or late in the game up by two when time left is critical and you need to create as long a field as possible. That's when those touchbacks are priceless!

That one miss woulda given us the win vs washingon.

A lot of other things could have been done to win the Washington game but I'm not looking to get rid of Arron Glenn or Roy Williams.

until he continuously proves himself, hes still going to be a questionable kicker.
