Joseph Randle makes first court appearance following casino arrest
Thu 12:06 PM, Dec 03, 2015
WELLINGTON, Kan. (KAKE) — Wichita native and former Dallas Cowboys running back Joseph Randle made his first court appearance Thursday following last week's arrest at an area casino.
Randle, 23, was arrested at the Kansas Star Casino on Tuesday, November 24. Fred Waller with the Kansas Racing and Gaming Commission told KAKE News last week that Randle became belligerent at a blackjack table, which escalated into a physical altercation with officers.
Randle arrived at the Sumner County Courthouse Thursday morning with his father and a friend. At the podium, he asked for a continuance so he could hire a lawyer and the judge granted him 30 days to do so.
Randle has been formally charged with two counts of disorderly conduct, one count of criminal trespass and one count of interference with a law enforcement officer. All are misdemeanors. Randle told the judge he plans to plead not guilty to the charges, and a preliminary hearing has been scheduled for January 7.
Following the hearing, Randle told KAKE's Ben Jordan that he's not going to comment on what happened that night, and that he's just going to let the results speak for themselves.
When asked what the future holds, Randle said, "It's to be continued. We've got to get through this rough phase."
