Our 7th round supplemental pick. If he was in the draft this year how would he grade out and, where would he be projected to be drafted at? What other prospects would he be compared similar to?

....but I'm not the guy qualified to answer it. Go ask it in the 'draft' forum. They'll be all over it like ants on sugar!:)

Don't remember much. Since he made the team & contributed indicates he'd probably gets drafted at least in the 6th rounder. Can you provide more details on what he did?

Not sure about being a star especially playing NT, but he was definitely a steal grabbing him in the supplemental draft. Funny thing is, he had a pre-supplemental draft workout and several teams attended, but not the Cowboys. Yet it was the Cowboys that drafted him.

If I remember right Dallas had him as a 3rd round projection when they took him. They threw a 7th round offer into the mix not expecting to get him and were surprised that no one else made an offer at all.

sounds like a good pickup. that means we don't have a 7th rounder this year, right?

http://www.nfldraftbible.com/Draft-Digest/supplemental-draft-report-josh-brent-price.html

Illinois defensive tackle Josh Brent-Price opted to head to the NFL after being declared academically ineligible. In 2009, he was also suspended after a DUI incident. He started all 12 games last season at defensive tackle 29 total tackles, seven tackles for loss and three sacks. He had a very good spring grade from NFL scouts, in which he was ranked as a top 150 player going into the season. Brent-Price is around 6’2, 330 and would have been ranked as the 15th overall defensive tackle going into the season. He will work out for NFL scouts before the draft and should get selected in the 5th or 6th round of the 2010 Supplemental Draft.

We do, but it's a low pick from the Patrick Crayton trade to the Chargers.

Really Brent is the perfect size for NT, especially if he can put on the weight he lost and get back to around 325 or so and add more strength.

I, however, do not believe he was being looked at to go very high. It's interesting to hear Hos say the Cowboys had him as a 3rd round prospect consider his motor, character, work ethic and overall athleticism were in question. I don't think he would have gone higher than the 5th, had he declared on time, personally.

We don't have ours but we do have the Chargers form the Patrick Crayton trade. As of right now that is pick #209 but that will change when the Compensatory picks are added.

Not sure where he would fit in, probably the 5th round. Love the player, great pick by us.

cool. not noon yet so i'm not fully awake. just making sure i understood.

As has been mentioned, scuttlebut around here at the time was 3rd-5th. I'm sure glad we got him. Makes me feel a lot better about our interior DL depth.

You guys think we should move Rat to DE?

Not if he can still play Nose at a high lvl.

He was an average DE and a great Nose.

I think we should, but not to start Brent at NT.

Actually that's not true, what I'm really in favor of is just varied looks and being less predictable. Lining Ratliff up at DE would just be part of that.

Could you start a new thread for that? We need some fresh ideas around here.

Some of you guys seriously need to step off. Idgit has been a good poster for a long time. Why the sarcasm? You've decided the idea of moving Rat has been stated before (so lame) so anything goes?

;)

It's very premature to say this, but it's pretty clear he was a great pickup at the cost of a 7th rounder. I certainly like his potential.

When he was an average DE he was also an average NT. The difference is that his opportunity to get reps and to develop was at NT - he did was not given that same opportunity at DE.

I understand the arguments for leaving him at NT, but I suspect he could be an outstanding DE as well.
