That's what teams are doing now. One year deals after the rookie contract is over. They don't mind paying 10-12 million if you're worth it. Just no long term guarantees. They have to prove it every year.
Running backs today would be better off signing 4 or 5 year 50 million dollar contracts with no guarantees other than signing bonus. It works out to the same thing, they just don't have to keep switching teams.
