No one seems to have this guy on the radar in terms of free agents, but if Dallas wants to obtain a young veteran with a nice deep ball and above average mobility that will likely beat out McGee and give us a solid backup to Romo, we could do a lot worse than Josh Johnson from Tampa.

Has some starting experience, will only be 26 when next season starts, and is probably looking to move elsewhere at this point (seems like the Bucs will give Freeman a pass on this season due to the overall state of their team and the fact that they are invested in him).

You know who I kind of want? Jason Campbell. I think he'd be a good backup, and if he had any success it would crush Commanders fans.

I really want Tyler Thigpen though. I just think he's a perfect abckup to Tony.

Give me Greg McElroy after the Jets can him later this offseason for his own safety.

I like both of them Hos, and yes, Campbell having any degree of success here would definitely be sweet. I think he's definitely the epitome of a team guy, with all he's had to put up with over the years, the Palmer trade this past year included. Great arm, can certainly help you win in a pinch if Romo is down.

I'm having a hard time understanding why you want him here.

I saw him as a young QB with some experience that could serve as both excellent competition for McGee and perhaps push him to better performance, and as a very solid # 2 behind Romo should he prevail over McGee in a training camp battle. He would bring a very different dimension with his mobility should an opposing defense have to prepare for him, is said to be very intelligent and a good character guy, and could be a safeguard against Romo leaving or being released after 2013, should things come to that.

All this while likely coming at a very reasonable cost, given that he's never had extended time as a starter up to this point.

I like Thigpen a lot, too.

I'd be shocked if Jason Campbell doesn't get a starting job or atleast compete for one. Jason Campbell was having a solid season until he got hurt which makes it even more wierd the Raiders gave up so much for Palmer.

I would be perfectly fine with either of these options.

In for JC...talented guy, never really got a fair shake anywhere he's been. I think at one point, he had 6 coordinators in 7 years and then got banished to Oakland.

Don't you think it would be wise to start grooming Romo's replacement. Neither Campbell or Thigpen is going to step into Tony's shoes when Tony is done. Either is only marginally better than McGee.

I would like to bring in Matt Moore if he becomes available.

Now that you said it is it ok if I admit I secretly have wished for it.

Seriously, It's a subject I did not even want to bring up. :laugh2:

Campbell would easily be one of if not the best backup QB in the league. I'd have to think he would choose to go to a team with a weak #1 QB situation so he may have a chance to start at some point.

I do agree they need to turn up the heat on McGee. Hopefully the competition either pushes him to improve or even pushes him off the team.

Kind of heretical, but I was thinking Campbell would be a solid backup QB option for us, too...

Well, did I exclude the Draft? Excuse me.
