I know that Josh McDaniel flamed out in Denver with some poor choices, and being too arrogant to get the job done. But his current boss also flamed out in his first attempt at being a Head Coach. Belichick got fired from the Browns, right before they moved to Baltimore. He scurried back to Bill Parcells, who took him back in the fold. Now Belichick is widely recognized as the best NFL Head coach in the 100 year history of the NFL. Belichick even had his own episode of agreeing to become a Head Coach for the Jets, only to back out - just like McDaniel backed out of the job with the Colts last year.

McDaniel has been trained by Belichick for years, and likely understands what it takes to create a championship environment - which is the main job of a Head Coach. I'm up for giving McDaniel another bite at the Head Coaching apple in Dallas.

EDIT: Yeah, I know some are put off by what McDaniel did to the Colts last year. But who knows what really went on behind the scenes with Jim Irsay that may have caused McDaniel to reconsider?

Maybe
We won’t know except in hindsight
Some people can be successful at their second stop but many are not

Not here. The difference is bill was able to put together and bring his staff that shared his ideology. McDaniels doesn't have that team ready to go.

I've lobbied for a few years for McDaniel's. My opinion is he's the top OC in the league. (I know many think it's all Brady) But small details in clips that have covered NE he holds his own. He will exploit the weakness in a D and have a team specific game plan each week.

My problem with any hire is how much control he will be given. If Garrett is canned the new coach might be the most important hire and maybe the last in the tenure of the GM. The next coach and his responsibilities will either dispel or reinforce just how committed Jerry Jones is to winning. I see it as a crossroad.

Just a personal note that no one else will care about, but I absolutely detest Irsay. When I think about him playing Jerry Garcia's guitar Tiger with his ****** bag buddies I cringe.

He's not my first choice but I'd be fine with him. He flamed out in Denver largely due to drafting Tebow and we wont be drafting a QB so that's not a problem. Also. Houston has had success so not all of BB assistants are bad. Plus, we dont know what Patricia and Flores are yet.

Six former Belichick assistants have gone on to become NFL head coaches. Would you like to take a guess at how many of them have gone on to win, or even coach in, a championship game?

I'm intrigued by him as well but if he's learned anything from Belichick, he'd tell jeri to pound sand knowing jeri won't allow him to do what it takes to implement a winning system, environment, etc

That doesnt mean it wont happen. Also, there's been like 20ish coaches in the last 20 years to accomplish that feat.

What would this forum do without something to make wild speculations about?

I don't care about jilting the colts...I thought it was funny, personally.
but his stint in Denver was a disaster.
I think some asst's are meant to be asst's.

No. Please. No. Everyone from Belichick’s coaching tree has failed. I don’t want him. Give me the actual Belichick instead please.
Nick Saban is from that tree....he's done o.k.
I think Urban Meyer is also...again...he panned out.
but there are others that haven't...for sure.
