I love you man...there is no doubt that a 32 y/o with NO NFL head coaching experience was certainly the reason that New England's offense was that good!

I mean it is easy to see how good Charlie has been since getting out from the shadow that is the hoodie in New England...and Romeo...another stellar job!!!

That "Hoodie" coaching tree is unbelievable and to have the arrogance that you do and running Number 6 out of town...BRILLIANT!

But, you are my hero JM because YOU and that debacle in Denver have officailly removed us from being the top story of this off season and I LOVE IT!!!

By the way Josh I am certain that Tom Brady, or Randy Moss, or that Bill guy had nothing to do with your success...it's ALL YOU! After all, I was able to produce some very solid QBs not because of the fact that they all had talent, it was me! Forget talent it was me, me, me...so I understand your point we seem to agree on so much!!! Love you brother!!!

I think you're being a little hard on the guy...................

True, that soap opera DID take the shine of the obsession with the Cowboys............so in that regard I agree with you.

But every adult, professional, grown up man in the NFL knows that "trade talk" or "trade rumors" is a part of the game and a career. Even before free agency when a trade was literally the only way a guy could switch teams, it's a part of being a pro.

Cutler shoulders his share of the blame, probably the BIGGER share. He acted in a way that he felt he should be "untouchable" and above such drivel that the "minions" must put up with, but NOT HIM! As if he's accomplished anything of merit. As if he's irreplaceable. As if he's "the franchise". He's obviously NOT in the eyes of the powers-that-be in Denver.

Cutler felt "dissed" for no other reason than a routine deal that happens in every organization every year. Trade talk is part of the deal, and he couldn't handle it.

CUTLER WAS THE ONE who refused to even talk to anyone in Denver. Wouldn't return any form of communication, and basically took his ball, went home, and held his little breath until he turned blue. He is now the official "man-child, spoiled brat" of the NFL.

For the record, I STILL can't believe that they got rid of Shanahan in the first place. That said, the LAST thing that this new HC needed was a prima-dona QB who claimed the "******* step child" mantle over nothing more than business-as-usual in the NFL.

I hope Cutler flounders and waste's away in Chicago, and ends up a backup to Romo or Brady Quinn in a few years. He's got Trent Dilpher written all over him right about now. He's got a MUCH BIGGER road to hoe in his NFL career now, and HE'S RESPONSIBLE for his lot in life....................

This part just reminded me of Eli and San Diego. Wow that was forgotten quickly...

Without Belichick, Brady, Seymour, Harrison, and Branch these guys are washing cars or coaching high school football.

McDaniel can certainly prove a lot of people wrong quickly by going out Week 1 and winning.

So far, though, I don't like his chances of accomplishing that. He seems way in over his head.

You could say that without Jimmy Johnson, Aikman, Emmitt, Micheal Irvin, Novecheck, Ken Norton, Charles Haley, etc............................That Norv Turner and Dave Wannstedt are bagging groceries too.................

Remember them? The "offensive genius" and "defensive genius" of our beloved Cowboy glory days? What did they ever accomplish after Dallas? In fact, Norv Turner became somewhat of a laughing-stock/whipping boy for "Not Head Coach Material" throughout the league............

The Niners were supposed to be the "Next Head Coach" hotbed in the NFL. They spread untold tentacles throughout the league, everyone thinking that the hoax of the "West Coast Offense" would simply transfer to where ever an assistant coach landed. Only Mike Holmgren in Green Bay ever won anything, and even HE SAID that it wasn't the "West Coast Offense" of San Fran that was the major factor. Every other "Niner Vunder Child Genius" failed miserably.................and that was A LOT of PEOPLE!!!!

Listen, no dig on Norv or Wannstedt, but it's patently impossible and very unfair to transfer ANY success as a coordinator to success anywhere else afterwards. Each situation merits it's own judgment. There's no telling who, what, when, where and why anything happens in a different situation. No two teams or situations are alike.

This guy in Denver, he's being thrown under the bus before his first training camp for heavens sake. I'm no Denver fan, but I say give this guy the same shot that everyone else gets..............at least two years, maybe three. THEN, if he's a bust, then fine...........rip him to shreds and blame any success he had in New England on the "system". But not until he gets his shot.............................which he hasn't even begun yet.

Cutler was the problem IMO.

Sorry, but another thing...................

This division is "made" to be had, even for a first year head coach and a suspect QB quandry.

The Raiders and the Chiefs are just plain terrible. Barring major turn arounds, these two train wrecks are easily more than one year away from .500.

That leaves San Diego. And who the hell knows what will happen there? LT took a pay cut. Merriman hasn't played since last August. And Norv Turner is the head coach!! They'll probably be the "cream" of a lousy crop in the AFC West.

That leaves Denver, who was a late season melt down away from the division title. Yeah, they got a new HC and a big, fat "Who Knows" at QB. Their defense needs help too. But even with all these holes, in that Division, a 2nd place Wild Card finish isn't a stretch.

Just thinking out loud here.......................it won't take much for them to compete for that Division Title given the state of the AFC West. THEN, McDaniel will look like "the real thing", and the owner will look like genius for getting rid of Shanahan and replacing with this youngster.................

Let's just wait and see how it plays out. Probable? Not likely. But impossible? No.

Yeah, McD is an idiot.... and idiot like a fox. (sorry, working on Emmitt-type phrases)

He was brought in to rebuild the Broncos and now has an extra two firsts and a third to do so. Cutler put up numbers but his record as a starter sucks.

QB gets too much credit, and too much blame.

Their defense was atrocious and was a large factor to their mediocre record. They got a good amount to work with from Chi, but losing a QB of that caliber is not easy. They better hope they can find a good QB in a year or two, because Chris Simms and Kyle Orton are not the answer.

I wouldn't go that far. Aikman still would have been the #1 pick, Irvin was hard in college and still would have had his heart. Emmitt still would have been great. Haley already had 3 rings. everything goes hand and hand but Mcdaniels didn't do squat for NE, if anything he called the play to get Brady hurt....If Cassell couldn't succeed with Moss and Welker as his WRZ he would have been cut......

I just don't think McD gets it. This isn't college and you're not established like Belichick, so you can't crap all over players and expect them to think that it's okay because you're the head coach. You can get away with that in college or if you're Belichick, but not when you're a 32 year old coach who has yet to be a HC even for 1 preseason game. The only regret I have about the situation is that Cutler went to another NFC team. If he would've gone to an AFC team I would've been happier.

I watched 8 Broncos games last year. To say their defense was atrocious is an understatement. If the Lions defense wasn't so historically awful, I would say the Broncos would've been the worst tackling defense in the league and probably the worst defense overall in the league. To blame Cutler because Dre Bly can't cover, their safeties stunk and their D-Line is a joke is like blaming DeMarcus Ware for Tony Romo's turnovers, Owens' drops, and Flozell's false starts.

The amsuing thing is, I'd take McDaniel over Garrett as our OC. At least he knows how to take advantage of a slot-receiver, when teams are dropping back to take away the deep-threat of a HoF WR.

I agree with EVERYTHING you said here. It seems that our angles are a little different:

I was responding to the idea that, without a great HC and all these great players, that the OC or DC in New England would be nothing. The idea that all the talent, both management and players, is what made McDaniels what he is. If you read the post I was quoting, that was MY angle.

That being said, McDaniels has nowhere near the cast of characters in this regard this year in Denver. But, still, we'll see won't we. Sometimes, a guy comes along, like Parcells with the Giants, that turns out to be a tremendous hire by the franchise. I hope not, because Denver is on my top 5 crap-list. Don't like 'em, don't like the owner, don't like their track record on how they treat BOTH coaches AND players. Don't like or respect the Division either. I got little use for BOTH western Divisions, AFC or NFC.

I just think that this guy got dealt a raw deal in large part due to a spoiled little "entitlement" brat, and now has a very deep hole to dig out of as a first year HC.

McDaniels as soon as he was made coach sat down with cutler and said'You are my guy" then just a little while later is seriously discussing getting Cassel. I agree that cutler is thin skinned and should have done more. BUT McDaniels should have let him know that something was being talked about. Not to mention how does Cutler believe him when he says one day "You are my guy" then is talking about getting another QB who has only one season as a starter on a MUCH BETTER team?

I think the guy is pretty smart.

He just got a bundle for a QB who is clearly a mess mentally and lowered expectations at the same time. He'll have a chance to build his team, his way and not cowtow to a primadonna QB who has never even been to the playoffs.

Anyone think Belichek would have bent over apologizing because his QBs name came up in trade talks?
