The difference is that the girlfriend claimed his involvement and domestic violence was a touchy subject for the league at the time. As far as we know, no one has claimed that Joseph was involved in the shooting, only that he was there. I think the players' association would get outraged if he was suspended just for being present at a crime because that opens up all kinds of problems for their union.

I hear ya and don't disagree man it's just I've never actually read exactly what the Personal Conduct Policy says and the latitude it may give the commissioner in issuing punishment based on his judgment.

That's why I'm still a tad skeptical if Joseph won't end up still missing a few games.

Oh okay. I thought with how the whole Zeke situation went down that the NFL would have possibly put Joseph on suspension just for being at the scene of the crime. Regardless if he was testifying in their investigation or not.

Jerry and Goodell's past history made me think he would have possibly been suspended just on GP.
in fairness this is the nfl and there are no rules or any consistency lol.
but my guess is his continued cooperation is how he avoids a major penalty and also a key part is ensuring it now.

in all honesty he is barely on the roster so he may not have to worry about it at all if he doesn't play at a higher rate.
this team drafts too well to linger over missed picks.

I'll be interested in seeing what Joseph shows this year. Time for him to prove his worth, otherwise, I've liked what I've seen from Bland so far.

yeah I think KJ has a short leash…good players behind him and he has yet to show anything except off field poor decision making…

Understandable. He has a lot of leeway under it. I just think the DM thing with Elliott was a bit of a perfect storm. The league was coming off looking bad based on the Ray Rice video (I believe). Activists were raising a lot of stink about the league not being tough enough on DM offenders. Then, the accusations against Elliott came along and they saw a chance to change the narrative, ignoring everything but the opportunity to make itself look good by punishing a high-profile player.

I don't think it gains anything by taking a stand against a player who right now is just witness to a crime. There are far fewer players involved in a murder so there's no outcry for the league to be tougher on them. PR plays a huge role in such decisions. Elliott was targeted for a purpose.

Now, if anything comes out that Joseph had a role in the shooting, either that he was directly involved and pushed for it, then I think suspending him is an easy call. But suspending him for being a witness to a crime would mean any player could be suspended if a crime is committed in their presence by known associates. I don't think the NFLPA would go for that despite Goodell's latitude because it sets a terrible precedent.

I dunno... he showed out well the one time he started.
I think he gave up only 1 catch for negative yardage the whole game.

The people who said he played terribly weren't watching.
KJ was really close on a bunch of those plays. He's not far away from being real decent. Just needs reps and must take his lumps like diggs did.

You obviously have some excellent points, which demonstrate it's quite possible, more than likely even, that it's a non-issue as far as the NFL. That's not to say his homeboys that did this should be let off the hook, or that the entire deal wasn't tragic. I think it goes even deeper, though, presents a cultural dilemma for the league itself, because the NFL would be taking its own course and its own position that contradict some of the main ideals about the United States, the place where the school lights go off and small town football fields are the home of Friday Night Lights.

It would just go against the premise of the game, and its roots, if you really think about it. The game was never about choir boys in the first place.

Yeah right. He's another Tyrsten Hill. His contract year he'll all of a sudden "get it". Just watch. He's a loser
